Wanted: Experienced Heavy Haulage / Tilt Tray Driver (HR / HC)

Location: Karratha, WA (Residential only Role)

Are you an experienced truck driver looking for a permanent residential role in Karratha? Karratha Tilt Tray & Towing is seeking a dependable, skilled Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) driver to join our local transport, recovery and breakdown response team.

As a primary breakdown and transport provider across the Pilbara, no two days are the same. This is a local residential role—enjoy sleeping in your own bed every night while taking on diverse local container transport, equipment moves, vehicle breakdown and accident work.

Key Responsibilities

Operating heavy rigid / combination tilt-tray vehicles safely across Karratha and the wider Pilbara region.

Performing unassisted container and machinery loading/deliveries, ground set-downs, and vehicle recoveries.

Conducting pre-start safety checks, maintaining vehicle cleanliness, and securing loads to industry standards.

Interacting professionally with local clients, depot operators, and emergency call-out contacts.

Requirements

Licence: Heavy Rigid (HR) driver’s licence required (Heavy Combination (HC) licence strongly preferred).

Integrity Check: Must be able to pass a standard National Police Clearance / Police Integrity Check.

Experience: Demonstrated experience driving heavy vehicles, securing loads, or operating tilt-trays/machinery transport.

Location: Must currently reside in (or be able to self-relocate to) Karratha, WA. (Note: This is a residential position, not a FIFO/DIDO role).

Flexibility: Willingness to work varying hours, including potential after-hours call-outs, weekend breakdown coverage, and shifting daily schedules.

♻️ Planning a trip to 7 Mile Waste Disposal Facility? New operating hours start tomorrow!

From Saturday, 1 August 2026, the daily closing time at 7 Mile Waste Disposal Facility (including the Transfer Station), will change from 4.30pm to 4pm.

New operating hours:
- 7am to 4pm daily, including weekends and public holidays (excluding Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Year's Day).

If you're planning a visit, please allow enough time to unload and exit the facility before the 4pm closing time.

We are in peak travel season in the Pilbara with an abundance of grey and not grey nomads travelling around, now school holidays to boot! Karratha Tilt Tray and Towing is currently recruiting a qualified driver to join our team.

The ideal candidate must possess an HR licence or higher and be able to pass police checks. Preference will be given to those who can work weekends and be on call as required. Please note that accommodation is not included in this role.

As a small, family-owned business, Karratha Tilt Tray and Towing provides services to Karratha and surrounding areas, including transport of small generators to large trucks, general transport, and accident and breakdown towing. Due to our growth, we are expanding our fleet and team. The successful candidate will be required to perform varying duties, including long road trips and short days maintaining equipment in the yard. UPDATE 3:10pm: Main Roads has re-opened the North West Coastal Highway between Madigan Road and the Fortescue Roadhouse with caution.

Drivers are urged to prepare adequately, seek alternate routes if possible an drive with extreme caution.

UPDATE 11:30am: The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) has now issued a flood advice alart for the North West Coastal Highway between Madigan Road (near Karratha) and Burkett Road (near Giralia).

There is no immediate danger, but travellers are urged to monitor conditions in case the situation changes.

A major highway connecting Karratha to the south has been closed due to flooding.

The North West Coastal Highway has been closed between Madigan Road near Karratha and Fortescue River Roadhouse.

Main Roads is also urging drivers to take care on the North West Coastal Highway between Fortescue River Road hours and Burkett Road with water over the road.
