The good news keeps coming!

We’re delighted to announce that KBSS has been named the 2026 Telstra Best of Business Awards Western Australian Growth Award Winner! 🏆 🏅

It’s another proud moment for us as a locally owned, regional business, taking out a statewide award and competing against the best businesses from across Western Australia.

This award recognises outstanding growth that contributes to the economy and community it operates in. The past few years have seen KBSS grow significantly as we look to further our expansion, creating jobs, taking our services into new markets and developing the next generation of talent right here in the Pilbara.

As always, this award belongs to the entire KBSS team, and we’re honoured to show what a Pilbara business can achieve.

Next month we will be attending the National Awards as a Finalist, where we’ll have the chance to be named a National Winner and Telstra Business of the Year.

Thank you to our clients, partners and the local Pilbara community for continuing to back us. We look forward to representing Karratha, the Pilbara and WA on the national stage.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐊𝐁𝐒𝐒!

KBSS has been named a finalist in four categories at the 2026 KDCCI Business Excellence Awards! 🎉

🏆 Best Large Business
🏆 Leading with Innovation Award
🏆 Apprentice/Trainee of the Year: James Morton
🏆 Businessperson of the Year: Cory Byers

This is an extraordinary outcome and a very proud moment for the whole team. To receive recognition across both business and individual categories is something we're extremely proud of and shows the depth of talent across our business, from our apprentices through to our managing director.

A special shout out to James Morton, our Mechanical Fitter & Machinist Apprentice, who proudly represents the future of our industry, and to Cory Byers for his exceptional leadership and commitment to driving KBSS forward.

Congratulations to all the other finalists. It's great to see so many well deserving local businesses and individuals being recognised within the community.

Thank you to KDCCI for putting on and hosting an event that celebrates local business like this one does. We look forward to seeing everyone on 24th October!

This year's R U OK? Day saw our teams take time to connect across our sites, offices and workshop over some lunch, refreshments and most importantly, to have a chat.

Working across the industries we operate in often means it's easy for people to put their own wellbeing last, or for the signs that someone's struggling to go unnoticed.

KBSS is committed to building a workplace where our people feel supported, valued and are comfortable having these conversations. R U OK? Day is just a reminder, the message doesn't stop there. Checking in on each other matters every day, not just the one day a year.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to connect, listen and check in with each other.

A conversation could change a life. R U OK?

What an amazing project to be part of!

After St Paul's Primary School Karratha reached out needing a safer way for students to access their new after-school care facility, our workshop team got to work, fabricating the bridge and partnering with Pilbara Protective Coatings to deliver the finishing touches.

A big thank you to everyone involved in bringing this project to life and to KDCCI for organising yesterday's grand opening. We look forward to supporting more community initiatives in the future. ⭐

Deeply embedded and committed to the Pilbara community 🏘️

At KBSS, being local means more than just where we're based, it's about showing up and having a strong presence for the community that's supported us since day one. Over the past few months, our logo has been popping up all over Karratha - have you spotted it?

🏃 Team KBSS @ Karratha Chevron City to Surf for GenU, a fantastic fundraising event.
🎗️ Karratha Kats Football & Sporting Club Inc. Pink Round Sponsors - raising awareness and funds for breast cancer research.
🏉 Swan Districts Football Club Pilbara 15s Regional Development Carnival Sponsors - backing the next generation of footy talent in the region.
🎉 Swans Roebourne Youth Hub at FeNaClNG Festival - marquee.
⚾ Karratha-Dampier Tee-Ball Association Trailer refurbishment - refurbishment and a fresh coat of paint for their equipment trailer.
😺 Karratha Kats Junior Football Club - proud sponsors of our local junior footballers.

Thank you to everyone who has been involved and provided us with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to our community.

There will be plenty more to come through 2026 and beyond!

When we found out the Karratha-Dampier Tee-Ball club needed some love on their trusty equipment trailer, our crew jumped at the chance to help out.

With the roof looking a bit worse for wear, our workshop team relined it with new sheets, then got stuck in blasting and repainting the whole trailer.

Great to see local businesses backing our junior sport and community.

Nice work team! 🙌

Last Wednesday we had the pleasure of attending the Rio Tinto Pilbara Buy Local Expo at the Red Earth Arts Precinct. The Buy Local Expo is a wonderful opportunity to connect, collaborate and network with fellow local suppliers who have proudly partnered with Rio Tinto over the years.

It was great to see what other local businesses across the region have to offer, while also showcasing our own capabilities and promoting the incredible work our teams deliver day-to-day, whether onsite, offsite, or in our local workshop.

Our Managing Director, Cory Byers, had the opportunity to speak about KBSS’s recent success at the Rio Tinto WA Supplier of the Year Awards. His message was clear - while receiving the award was a significant achievement for KBSS, this success was only made possible through building and developing a strong partnership with Rio Tinto and our commitment to being a trusted local service provider in the Pilbara.

We also ran a competition on the day, won by David from Eire Total Access. Congratulations and enjoy your KBSS merchandise and gift card.

Thanks to Rio Tinto again for hosting such a fantastic event and for continuing to support and celebrate KBSS and other local businesses in the Pilbara.

We had the pleasure of sponsoring a very special round of footy for the Karratha Kats Football & Sporting Club Inc. last weekend.

Round 11 hosted Pink Day 🎀, a round dedicated to raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Special pink guernseys were worn to support the cause, and the players looked magnificent out on the oval.

Our Managing Director, Cory Byers, presented the players of the game with their awards, and was also lucky enough to receive his own pink guernsey from the day!

Thank you to the Kats for hosting such a special day. It was wonderful to see such a great turnout, and to see so much raised for a cause that affects so many of us.

Up the Kats! 🐾🏉

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of engaging with students at St Luke's College Karratha as part of their Speed Careering Event!

It was fantastic to take the time to share the individual career journeys of our local team members, talk about KBSS' pathways and opportunities, as well as understand the goals and aspirations of the students.

Thank you to St Luke's College Karratha for hosting us and other local businesses, and to the students for a wonderful morning filled with engaging conversations. 🌟

𝐑𝐢𝐨 𝐓𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐡𝐲 𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫! 🏆 🏝️

Following our recent success at the Rio Tinto Supplier Recognition Awards, we had the privilege of taking the Supplier of the Year trophy on tour to share the achievement with some of our crews across Rio Tinto Pilbara sites.

It was fantastic to visit our teams at Cape Lambert and Dampier, to recognise the contribution of the people who helped make this award possible. We took the opportunity to also share a well-deserved spread of food and refreshments as a small gesture of appreciation for their all their hard work in making this award possible.

Thank you to Rio Tinto for the award and the continuous collective effort of our teams, it was great to recognise this success together out in the field. 🙌
