Grief can feel overwhelming, but no one should have to walk that journey alone.

Healing often begins with a conversation, a shared story or simply knowing someone is there beside you.

Community has always been one of our greatest strengths.

Cultural safety means listening before leading, respecting cultural protocols, recognising the importance of family and Elders, and creating spaces where people feel safe, heard and respected.

At Barrunbatayi, cultural safety isn't an extra service—it's the foundation of everything we do.

👀 BEHIND THE SCENES AT BARRUNBATAYI

Something meaningful is taking shape.

We’ve been working behind the scenes developing our Grief & Healing Workshop placing the finishing touches.
This is a culturally grounded, trauma-informed learning experience designed for community, organisations, ACCOs and government services.

Our attendees will have a space where we can have meaningful conversations about grief, Sorry Business, trauma, intergenerational trauma, healing, culture, Country and community.

Every slide.
Every activity.
Every conversation.

Is being developed with purpose.

Our goal is to create a workshop where people don't just leave with information. They leave with greater understanding, practical tools and a deeper appreciation of culturally safe ways of walking alongside people through grief.

🖤💛❤️ Walking together through grief, culture and healing.

Understanding Our Shared History

At Barrunbatayi, we believe healing begins with understanding.

Grief, healing and wellbeing are shaped not only by our personal experiences but also by our history, culture, family and community. Taking time to learn about the journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples can deepen our understanding of resilience, strengthen cultural awareness and encourage respectful conversations about healing.

One resource we believe is worth exploring is "Our Healing. Our Future – Timeline of Trauma and Healing in Australia", developed by The Healing Foundation.

This educational timeline highlights significant moments in Australia's history and invites readers to reflect on the strength, resilience and ongoing healing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It is a valuable resource for anyone wanting to better understand the importance of truth-telling, connection and healing.

We encourage you to take the time to read this resource and reflect on how understanding our shared history can contribute to stronger families, stronger communities and a more culturally informed future.

📖 Read the resource here:

This resource was developed by The Healing Foundation. Barrunbatayi is sharing it because we believe it provides valuable educational information that supports learning, reflection and culturally respectful conversations.
