Talent x Investment = Strength

Talent is your natural way of thinking, feeling or behaving.
X
Investment is time spent developing your skills, practising and increasing your knowledge.
=
Your strength.

What are your top 5 strengths and are you spending the majority of your time and energy working in your strength zone?

If you don’t know, look at the Gallup Strengths Centre . For a small investment, you can obtain a comprehensive strengths assessment.

I recommend the assessment to my clients and the aha moments when they see their results are heartwarming.

What about weaknesses? Why bother developing something you’re not naturally good at? Outsource it!

👑 Cash flow is king. If you want a financially successful business, learn now to budget. Otherwise it may just be an expensive hobby.

Too much month at the end of the money? Don’t know where your cash goes? Do you have a budget?

My simple budgeting tips:

💰Chunk it down. $600 quarterly power bill? Put aside $50 per week.

💰Write it down. You don’t need fancy software or even an excel spreadsheet. A simple notebook and pencil works well.

💰Revise it regularly. Don’t pay for
anything you don’t need. A $10 monthly subscription you’re not using, is $120 per year. Not one dollar is insignificant.

When I started my business a wise person asked me, ‘Deb, what’s your why?’

The prospect of starting your own business is exciting. Motivation and inspiration are high.

How do you maintain these when the stuff happens? You have an issue with inventory, staff need your time, customers are challenging, unexpected costs, a business interruption. This is what I call stuff.

You come back to your why. Why did you start? Why?

For me, it’s never changed. My why is freedom. Freedom to create something from nothing, freedom to be accountable for my decisions and actions, freedom to choose who I work with, freedom to work when and where I like. Yes, freedom comes with work, but that’s ok, my why is bigger than my in-tray.

When it gets tough and it will get tough, ask yourself - ‘what’s my why’? Then keep going. 👊🏻

🤪 I’ve got this.

💚 Don’t be like Crusoe. He should be spending his time being a celebrity dachshund, not balancing his bank account. Time for Crusoe to partner with a bookkeeper.

💚 Easter

For my lovely retail and hospitality clients who keep working when most of us will be enjoying a long weekend, all 4 days are designated public holidays this Easter. This means penalty rates will apply to your permanent and casual staff.

Paying staff on public holidays is expensive, so if you are lucky enough to be enjoying a few days off for Easter and see a surcharge at your local cafe or restaurant, don't be annoyed. Spend up!
