Battery EVs outsold petrol cars again ⚡🚗

26,287 fully electric cars were sold in Australia in September, 24.9% of new car sales, just ahead of petrol at 24.7%. It's the second month in a row.

More data centres are coming to NSW. Here's what that could mean for your power bill.

About 5 TWh across the east-coast grid last year (around 3%), and NSW accounts for 66% of that. Forecast about 15 TWh by FY30 and about 34 TWh by FY36 (AEMO). In NSW, AEMO expects data centres to make up most of the grid's growth to 2030. The NSW Government's own August paper warns that without reform, data centre demand risks "increasing electricity prices for households and businesses", and 7 GW of coal closes by 2033.

Reforms are still being consulted on, so nothing's locked in. Making and storing your own power with solar and a battery is one of the few ways to take some control.
