Job Opportunity - Lochsport
Transfer station attendant
Casual (19 hours a week), Hourly, $30 - $50

This versatile role will involve operating machinery, assisting/serving customers, maintaining the facility including litter clean up and any other odd jobs that may require attention while ensuring a safe and environmentally friendly operation. This position requires customer service skills, the ability to work independently or part of a team, recording of transactions and money handling.
Basic cash handling experience is required for this role.

Due to the extreme fire danger and high temperatures forecast for tomorrow (17 February 2026), the Heyfield Transfer Station will be closed for the day. This step is part of our Emergency Management Plan to keep our staff and community safe in high‑risk conditions.

✅ Based on current forecasts, the site is expected to reopen as normal on Thursday. We’ll share updates if anything changes.

🔥 Temporary Closure: Yarram & Dargo Transfer Stations 🔥

With extreme fire danger and very high temperatures forecast for tomorrow (11 February 2026), both the Yarram and Dargo Transfer Stations will be closed for the day. This decision is part of our Emergency Management Plan to ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and community.

✅ Both facilities are expected to reopen on Saturday (based on current forecasts). We’ll keep you updated if anything changes.

Arbuckle, Billabong, Black Snake Creek, Blomford, Budgee Budgee, Castleburn, Cobbannah, Cowa, Crooked River, Dargo, Gibbs, Hawkhurst, Maguires, Miowera, Moornapa, Moroka, Shepherdson, Toolome, Treasures, Waterford, Wongungarra, Wrathung, and Talbotville.

🔥 Loch Sport Transfer Station Closure Update

Due to today's extreme fire danger rating and severe heat, the Loch Sport Transfer Station will be closed for the day.

This closure follows our Emergency Management Plan to keep our team and community safe during high-risk conditions. It’s also going to be far too hot for tossing rubbish, so please hold off until it’s safe.

✅ Reopening:
Based on current forecasts, the transfer station will reopen Saturday, 10 January at 12pm. If anything changes, we’ll share updates here.

Thank you for planning ahead and for your understanding. Please stay cool, hydrated, and check in on those who might need assistance during the heat.

We would like to wish everyone a safe and merry christmas. Transfer Stations will be operating normal hours except for Christmas Day and New Years Day which we will be closed. Loch Sport and Dargo have differing open hours over the holiday period, please check Wellington Shire Council page or website for details.
