Setting and Using Goals
Having had some calls this past week asking about setting goals from clients and friends, so many don't know where to start. So here is a brief game plan, give it try and let us know how you go with moving forward. It's worked for me and so many clients & team members I've had the privilege of working with over the past 30 years.
Achieving goals be it personal or professional ones starts with knowing the WHY, why do you want to achieve that goal and what will it mean to you. Why is that important?
When we wake each day we need to have that answer to the question, "WHY am I doing this?"
Once you know the WHY, the HOW becomes much clearer, and so your energy levels increase to help you reach those goals. Some may need help to identify the HOW, but help is there to assist you with it.
Many of us already know the HOW, its just that we haven't identified the strong Why to get it done.

3 STEPS to take each day to help you commit to those goals:
1. Set aside 15mins each morning taking in what your goals are be it for the day/week/month or year. Write down your goals

2. Check your MINDSET, reassess your core values, which values strike a cord with you and how will you then tap into those values to go about your day?
(Check out the Values sheet below, print it out and identify the values you hold in highest regard personally. These are the values you need to remind yourself of each day)
I'm a strong believer that we move towards our most dominant thought, so make your thoughts your idea.

3. Spend 10 mins each morning going over your Top 4 Goals, prioritise them and take action each day to get closer to reaching those goals. Have a game plan and see how much faster you reach your goals.

Consistency in doing these 3 steps are the actions of people that are consistently achieving their goals in life.
Just because you may miss a day doesn't mean its over, regroup and start again the next day, the payoff is worth it.

"Salon Advantage Celebrating 20 Years"
January 1999 I wrote this thing called a business coaching program, ran it through my hairdressing business and then in 2000, took it out to salons throughout Queensland. My first ever client back then was Richard and Sheryl Kownacki down at Coolangatta and Katrina Gilligan from Katrina's Beauty Works in Burpengary. At the age of 33, working with some of the industry greats owners, product companies and magazine editors was both an honor and a privilege.
It's funny to think back and the first part of any meeting with potential clients was to explain what a business coach was and what my program could do to help grow their business. Being pretty much the first business coach in Hair and Beauty at that time meant breaking new ground and pushing through when people at that time said teaching hairdressers and beauty therapists about business was impossible. "I knew that wouldn't be the case and in the first year had signed over 70 salons up to work through a program that was really a blue print of how I ran my own business"
It's exciting to be celebrating 20 years in this wonderful industry and even more satisfying to see that out of the 70+ business coaches that I've trained over the years, many are still business coaches in their own right, working to help grow these great industry's.
Salon Advantage has been implemented with well over 5000 salons nationally and in NZ, imparting our program into TAFE Colleges and Polytech in NZ.
It is in reflection that I quote the aim of what originally started out as Performance Plus Training Academy and later grew to become Salon Advantage.
"Our Aim is to raise the standards in the hair and beauty industry by increasing business knowledge, personal development and team skills, one salon at a time."
It is fulfilling to see that many salon owners we have worked with over the past 20 years have successfully achieved their definition of success, some even going on to be business coaches themselves. Well done to you all.
To everyone that has been part of the journey of Salon Advantage over the past 20 years, thank you.
Its exciting to see that we are still going strong 20 years on, and how far and wide this program has impact our industry's, directly and indirectly.

“You are where you are Today by the choices you made Yesterday”

This quote/mantra has been my driving force and reality check for many years, inspiring me to take action and achieve more. It’s about knowing where you intend to be tomorrow by taking action today. It’s never too late to take action to achieve that picture of success you have in your mind; not going with the flow of what others think it should look like
