Are cleaners allowed to operate?
Commercial cleaning can operate in the following circumstances:
When servicing an Authorised provider for cleaning that cannot be deferred, such as: where cleaning is necessary to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of workers and visitors to the work premises where cleaning is necessary for the ongoing operations of the work premises where cleaning is necessary due to environmental obligations. Where cleaning is required at a closed work premises due to safety or environmental obligations. In an apartment building where the cleaning service is necessary to remove waste, such as when a cleaner needs to move communal bins for collection. For the cleaning of an apartment building that has been identified as a Tier 1 or Tier 2 exposure site. Cleaning a private home where a client has essential cleaning needs related to age, infirmity, disability, illness, or a chronic health condition. Cleaners can not clean private homes outside of these circumstances. Outdoor only cleaning at any premises, including occupied premises, that can be conducted by a solo worker (unless additional workers are required for safety reasons).
All workers must wear a face mask indoors and outdoors, unless a lawful reason not to applies.
When undertaking cleaning in any of these circumstances, cleaners are considered Authorised workers and must carry an authorised worker permit while at work and travelling for work.
