🌿 Using Your Green Garden Organics Bin the Right Way! 🌿

Did you know your green garden organics bin helps turn garden waste into valuable compost? When used correctly, it keeps waste out of landfill and supports a cleaner, greener community. ♻️

What CAN go in your green bin:
✅ Grass clippings
✅ Leaves and small branches
✅ Flowers and weeds
✅ Prunings and garden cuttings

What should NOT go in your green bin:
❌ Plastic bags or packaging
❌ Food scraps
❌ Treated or painted timber
❌ Soil, rocks or building materials

Tip: Place garden waste loose in the bin – no plastic bags. This helps ensure everything can be processed properly.

Good news this Easter – there are no changes to your kerbside waste and recycling collections.
Just remember to hop to it and put your bins out the night before your usual day 👍

Please note: Landfill and transfer stations will close on Good Friday.

🐣 Easter Long Weekend Update 🐣

✅ Waste collections will continue as normal — no changes to your scheduled pickup days.
❌ Our office and CDS processing will be closed over the Easter long weekend.

𝗜𝘁'𝘀 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆!
Did you know you can save money by sorting your waste and separating out the recycling before arriving at Bairnsdale Landfill or local transfer stations?

Loads that are sorted into recyclables, green waste and general rubbish are often cheaper to dispose of than mixed loads!

RECYCLE these for FREE at Bairnsdale Landfill and transfer stations:
• General recycling – metal cans, glass jars, plastic containers
• Paper and cardboard
• Scrap metal – tools, pipes, cookware
• Glassware – mirrors, windows, drinking glasses
• E-waste – batteries, mobile phones, computers, lightbulbs, whitegoods (not fridges or freezers)
• Motor oil (used)
• White polystyrene

TIPS for packing your waste:
• Check which waste is accepted at each facility and what can be recycled.
• Clearly separate recyclables and non-recyclables – mixed loads are not free, but many recyclable items are. See above!
• Condense your waste down as much as possible – waste fees are charged on how much space is taken up.
• Pack your trailer so landfill staff can easily see what is in your load.
• Secure your load (net, tie-down straps, or ropes) to prevent the risk of littering on the way.

We’re proud to have been part of the Convoy for Kids event over the weekend! 🚛💙

Our team at Tabo Waste was honoured to join so many incredible businesses and drivers coming together for a great cause—supporting children and families in need. Seeing the community line the streets, cheering on the convoy, was an amazing reminder of what can happen when people unite for something bigger than themselves.

A big thank you to the organisers, volunteers, and everyone who participated or came out to support the event. We’re grateful to play a small part in making a difference and helping bring smiles to so many kids.

Kerbside recycling in East Gippsland helps keep valuable materials out of landfill and protects our beautiful environment. ♻️

A quick reminder of the basics for your recycling bin:
✔️ Paper and cardboard
✔️ Glass bottles and jars
✔️ Plastic bottles and containers
✔️ Aluminium and steel cans

Please keep recyclables empty, loose (not bagged), and free from food scraps so they can be properly sorted and recycled. Small actions at home make a big difference
