Bright Sparks at Play!

The Tambo Waste team recently visited the wonderful kids at a kindergarten for a fun, hands-on session all about recycling and caring for our environment. In Partnership with East Gippsland Shire Council who brought Recycling Reg.

From learning which bin is which to discovering how everyday waste gets turned into something new, our young recyclers showed up with huge enthusiasm and fantastic questions.

1. Collection: Our trucks roll through your street to collect your yellow lid bin, keeping recyclable resources completely separate from general waste.

2. Sorting: Everything travels to our local Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). Here, advanced optical scanners, magnets, and our sharp-eyed team sort plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, and metals into dedicated streams.

3. Baling & Processing: Materials are compacted into massive bales and sent to specialized re-processors to be melted, shredded, or pulped into raw materials.

4. New Life: Your old milk bottles, aluminum cans, and cardboard boxes return to supermarket shelves as brand-new products, keeping valuable waste out of East Gippsland landfill!

Let’s get our kerbside sorting right, Tambo! Sorting your waste properly means more recycling and less going to landfill.

Yellow Lid (Recycling): Clean, dry cardboard, paper, glass bottles, and hard plastic containers. Please make sure they are loose, not bagged!

Red/Dark Lid (Landfill): General household waste, soft plastics, and non-recyclables.

Green Lid (Organics - where applicable): Garden clippings.

Remember: No soft plastics, nappies, or electronics in the recycling bin! When in doubt, check it out. Thanks for doing your part to look after our community! 💚🗑️
