After maybe 3 years of sitting in boxes, my two Shays are back up and running. #2 had never even been run due to being new old stock that had split gears :(

I had been putting it off due to stories of it being a difficult repair it turned out to be surprisingly quick and easy. In someways it's easier than most Steam loco repairs and took maybe 15mins per loco. It's a bit tough on the fingers, but the gears can be hand fitted, a big advantage over the NWSL gears.

Worth noting that these gears are now shipping in black, and until stock of grey gears run out, orders will be "buy 1 in black, get a bonus 1 in grey".

Another replacement chassis done! Powerline G class.

While fairly similar to the 81 class, this model was just different enough to present a series of hurdles.

There are 2 things I'll point out;
1) No cab interior on this one. Due to retaining the original light mounts, it was too awkward to work in any meaningful cab. They will ship with double LEDs (4 in total) to make up for it.

2) I had to get creative with how the chassis attached with this one. The original screw mounts cannot be used with a central motor and unlike the 81 Class there are zero clips. I have rather creatively used the LEDs as clips and it works surprisingly well. Buyers should note that rice grain bulbs cannot be used.

Thankyou to Mick Stevens for loaning me the loco to work with. It may surprise some, but Australian trains are not a big part of my collection so loaners save me from sourcing a loco that I would buy, then sell when I'm done with it.

I am really struggling to find the balance in time between;
- updating old products eg Class 48 chassis, HOn30 products etc
- designing new products eg 44T chassis, CPH etc
- completing orders for existing products
- and life in general

The current solution has been to take time off eBay each month to work on designs, but it doesn't work. It just means the orders are now crammed into a shorter time such that I end up spending the time off to catch up.

As an intermediate solution, from 5th September I will be halting sales of railmotors on eBay as these are some of the most time consuming products to produce. They will remain available via Facebook where the delivery time is more relaxed.

These railmotors are something I have intended to rework and replace with higher detail models. I am hopeful this break in railmotor sales will spare the time needed to update their models.

To that end, which railmotor should I update first?
- Victorian AEC
- Queensland RM55/63/70/74
- NSW RM1
