I'm excited to announce that my new guitar instrumental Mikros Chronos is available now on all streaming platforms (under my name Dave Rumsey)! Since I know 99% of you that follow this page are guitar players (including bass) I'm sure many of you will enjoy this old school guitar instrumental album!
Mikros Chronos started back in the 90's as a project I recorded on a Tascam 4-track cassette machine in my bedroom as a teenager, mostly ideas and some fully fleshed out tracks that never made it into an album format. It was heavily influenced by albums like Joe Satriani's “Surfing With the Alien” Steve Vai's “Passion & Warfare” Dream Theater's “Awake” and many more, but definitely a 90's Guitar rock instrumental album. If you don't know or like those album, this could sound a bit dated to you, it was purposefully written for 90's-era Metal guitarists.
When I recently decided to finish this long overdue album, I went back to the original cassette recordings, imported them into my computer recording project as individual tracks and built up new tracks around them. The amazing thing about using modern technology to do this is that I was able to extract all of my brother Dan's original bass lines he recorded back in the 90's into the new project. So most of the bass parts on this album are played by him, even though he doesn't play bass anymore.
This album is a bit of a journey, its a musical tour of the history of humanity from the beginning to the end, from a biblical perspective. Each title is a breadcrumb into research. Each song is a scene from history. As I recorded each song, I sat with the theme and really got into the emotional space and felt the reality that inspired each performance, the notes singing out the stories in my head.
