🔧 We’re Hiring: Window & Door Fabricator

Location: Longanlea, QLD

Alspec is seeking an experienced Fabricator to join our specialised testing facility. This position involves fabricating aluminium window and door systems and installing them into test rig openings for performance testing against various Australian Standards. The role offers variety and technical challenge, with the opportunity to develop skills beyond standard fabrication.

Key responsibilities:
-Fabricate and prepare aluminium window and door systems
-Install products into test rig openings for testing
-Assist with test setup and preparation under the Facility Manager’s direction
-Maintain workshop equipment and ensure work areas are safe and organised
-Contribute to continuous improvement of fabrication and testing processes
-Keep workshop, testing, and fabrication areas clean, safe, and organised.

About you
-Experience in window and door fabrication, or a similar trade background
-Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
-Ability to work both independently and within a team
-Commitment to safety and quality standards
-CNC machining experience is beneficial, but not essential, as training will be provided.

Artificial Weathering/UV ASTM G154

Accelerated aging studies are primarily performed in accordance with ASTM G154. ASTM G154 testing uses fluorescent light sources that can simulate UVA or UVB. This technique is used to evaluate the impact of UV exposure on a product’s mechanical properties.
This method is used for evaluating accelerated weathering on plastics, adhesives and sealants, printing inks and coatings. It is also used for doing accelerated weathering on a lot of finished products including roofing materials and outdoor household products.

Methodology:
The test involves cycles of condensation and UV exposure. Default cycling is as follows: 4 hrs of UV with 313 nm lamps at 60 C and 4 hrs of condensation at 50 C.

AS 2331.3.1 Methods of test for metallic and related coatings Corrosion and related property tests.

The neutral salt spray test is a method for the neutral salt spray (NSS) test for the assessment of corrosion resistance of inorganic and organic coatings on metallic substrates.

Methodology
Coatings are exposed to a corrosive atmosphere under controlled conditions for different durations. Resistance to corrosive attack is used to assess the quality of the coating against the conditions of the test. All chemicals used are of a recognized analytical reagent grade.
