We’re almost through Q1 of the financial year, making September a great time to refresh your business finances, check your progress and make sure you’re on track for the months ahead.

This month, take time to:

- Review your August numbers
- Get your books up to date
- Review your revenue and profit goals
- Check your cash flow
- Prepare for upcoming BAS, super and other obligations

What’s one business goal you’re working toward this September?

If you're a business owner, you've probably heard (or thought) things like:

🚫 “Talking about money feels uncomfortable.”

🚫 Learning money habits is too overwhelming, I’ll deal with it later.

🚫 “I’m just not good with numbers.”

Let’s flip the script:

✔ Money conversations are part of confident leadership.

✔ Small steps with money create big results over time.

✔ Understanding your numbers is learnable and powerful.

Your mindset around money will shape the way you lead, price, invest, and grow.

So if you’ve been carrying around limiting beliefs… it’s time to let them go.

Balances in accounts like Uncategorised Income, Uncategorised Expense or Uncategorised Asset usually mean there's a transaction that needs your attention.

Here's what to do:

- Run the Account Transactions report for the uncategorised account.

- Review each transaction to identify the correct customer, supplier or bank activity.

- Recode the transaction to the correct income, expense, asset, liability or equity account.

- Reconcile your bank account and review your financial reports to make sure everything is accurate.

These issues are more common than you think, and they can affect your Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and the accuracy of your tax return.

That's why it's important to review and clean up your books regularly.
