🪵 Spoiler alert: Termites did not get the memo that hardwood is off-limits! 🤫🍿

Think solid hardwood makes your home immune to termites? Think again! While tough timbers might slow them down, termites treat hardwood less like a dead end and more like a gourmet challenge—just check out the roof timber damage in these photos! 🏡🐛

Don't let them turn your structural timber into a hidden snack bar.

Yes Queen! 👑💅

Located this massive Coptotermes queen inside a mound out in Kuttabul today. While finding her is a huge win, our work didn't stop there - we followed up with a complete mound injection to ensure the job was done right.

Coptotermes are some of the most aggressive destroyers around, so taking prompt and thorough action is key to keeping local properties safe.

It might not look pretty tucked under the frame, but this is a tried-and-true modified solution that saved our client big time!

Instead of chopping out the entire floor, we retrofitted a 30mm wet area drop for this setup. It was a very cost-effective fix that kept the build moving and passed the certifier with flying colours.

By coordinating closely with the plumber on-site, we backfilled the void, sealed the pe*******on and integrated our termite protection cleanly around the pipe and timber frame—leaving zero entry points for pests and zero headaches for the build.

This area is to receive a 30mm structural grout bed before waterproofing and tiling.

Why Great Site Coordination Wins:

1. Cost-Effective: Smart workarounds that save your budget without cutting corners.
2. Certifier Approved: Done strictly to standard for a hassle-free sign-off.
3. Complete Protection: Termite barriers integrated seamlessly into complex pe*******on setups.

When trades work together, the owner-builder wins every time! 🛠️

🍕📻 Giving back pays off! Big news!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we’ve won a $5,000 ARN Radio Voucher for Star 101.9 Mackay & 4MK Mackay!
This win comes directly from our support of Grapevine Group - Mackay, Isaac and Whitsunday regions su***de prevention, a vital local charity that works tirelessly to prevent su***de and raise mental health awareness right here in the Mackay region.

Grapevine provides free su***de prevention training, distributes life-saving resource cards, and empowers our community to look out for one another.
Through the Pizza for a Purpose initiative, local businesses were invited to chip in and help keep these critical training programs free for everyone in Mackay. Supporting Grapevine’s mission was a no-brainer for us, and being drawn as the $5,000 radio prize winner is an unbelievable bonus!

A massive thank you to the whole team at Grapevine Group for everything they do to keep our community safe, strong, and supported.

Keep your ears open on Star FM and 4MK over the coming weeks—you’ll be hearing us on the airwaves soon! 🔊

Over the hill and far away...

Yuck... look at that for workmanship! 🫣❌
This messy drill-and-fill job was uncovered during a recent Pre-Purchase Timber Pest Inspection.

Cheap, rushed termite treatments often leave mismatched concrete patches and unsightly marks all over painted patio floors—and worse, raise questions about what else might have been rushed or missed.

Termite protection is essential, but it shouldn't ruin the look of your home or compromise quality!
If you've noticed a sloppy job like this on a property you're buying or living in—or if you want to make sure your home is properly inspected and protected—get in touch with Pioneer Pest Mackay. We offer specialist Trade Termite Solutions and take pride in doing clean, precise, thorough work that respects your property.

Behind the scenes on today's job...

Check out this termite gallery! You can clearly see the active workers scampering around inside the mudding structure.

Friendly reminder: If you ever break into a nest or mud trail by accident at home, do not spray them with everyday bug spray! Sprays only kill the few on contact and cause the rest of the colony to seal off the area and move elsewhere in your structure.

Leave them undisturbed and get a professional on the scene!
