My name is Helen Willis and I am a local Tablelands resident. After a long standing career of more than 15 years in Administration and Bookkeeping I have taken the next step and started my own business. After successfully completing my studies in November 2015 I became a registered BAS Agent with the Tax Practioners Board. I now operate my own contract Bookkeeping Business and service all areas of

the Atherton Tablelands and beyond. My primary objective is to assist all small to medium business owners with the tedious task of staying compliant with the Australian Taxation Office. I am able to offer assistance to your business on an ad hoc basis (as and when needed) or a weekly, monthly or quarterly contract basis, with full flexibility to suit your requirements. Work may be completed on or off-site depending on your needs. So what does a BAS Agent / Bookkeeper do?

• Process purchases, sales, receipts and payments
• Process payroll including maintenance of employee records and entitlements
• Calculation of employee superannuation guarantee payments
• Bank reconciliations
• Preparation and lodgement of Business Activity Statements (monthly, quarterly or annually) including fuel tax rebates; PAYG, PAYI instalments
• Provide advice to assist business owners with compliance with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) regime
• Prepare financial reports for business owner and accountant
• Record keeping

I understand that not all businesses are the same and therefore I am happy to tailor a package to suit your individual requirements. As a BAS Agent I have a strict code of conduct that I must adhere to and am required to undergo continuing professional education to ensure that I stay abreast of all relevant legislation and laws. Adherence with the code of conduct ensures that you are dealing with a suitably qualified professional who conducts themselves with:
• Honesty & Integrity (including when acting for you in relation to your money)
• Independence (including always acting in your best interests)
• Confidentiality (unless you direct otherwise, your information is totally confidential)
• Service provided with a high level of knowledge and skills to take “reasonable care” to ensure that tax law is applied correctly for you
I would love an opportunity to discuss your Bookkeeping requirements with you and would welcome a phone call or email from you.

Having a clearance certificate means you avoid 15% being withheld from the sale price.

All Aussie residents need one when selling property, no matter what type it is. That includes private residences, investment and commercial properties.

All casual employees must be given a copy of the Casual Employment Information Statement (CEIS) before, or as soon as possible after, they start a new job.

The CEIS includes info about conditions of employment for casuals like when they need to be offered part-time or full-time employment.

The CEIS is available in 38 languages. Download it from our website: https://www.fairwork.gov.au/employment-conditions/national-employment-standards/casual-employment-information-statement

Remember, employers have to give the Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS) to all new employees (full-time, part-time and casual) too.
