Our latest quarterly Environmental Review Committee (ERC) meeting was held recently at the Porcupine Flat Processing Plant, providing community representatives and stakeholders with an update on activities across the Maldon Gold Project.

Updates presented during the meeting included an overview of operations, environmental monitoring activities, community engagement, and future planning across the project area.

Water monitoring programs continued throughout the reporting period, with results reviewed as part of ongoing environmental management activities.

Dust monitoring and suppression measures also remained ongoing, with no dust complaints recorded during the reporting period.

A number of community noise concerns were raised during the quarter and were investigated. Monitoring confirmed operational activities remained within approved conditions. These concerns were discussed during the meeting, together with measures being undertaken to monitor and manage operational impacts.

Community engagement activities continued, with a focus on maintaining communication with residents and stakeholders. This included media updates, direct engagement with neighbouring residents, and participation in the In Maldon Today radio program.

Ongoing initiatives to support the local community included continued supply of surplus mine water for local use, firewood deliveries, and the establishment of a text message notification system to provide notice of blasting activities.

We thank ERC members for their continued involvement and feedback, and we remain committed to ongoing communication and transparency as activities continue across the Maldon Gold Project.

OUR OPERATIONS

A surface drilling program planned for the Nuggetty area later this year is expected to build upon historical drilling and mining records, targeting both known mineralised zones and areas that have seen little or no modern exploration.

The proposed drilling campaign will focus on testing the main lode and southern strike extensions of the Nuggetty line of reef, including a recently identified section of previously untested ground.

Planned drilling targets include:

🎯 Main Nuggetty deposit – targeting mineralisation up to 120 metres below the historic Nuggetty adit

🎯 Nuggetty South – testing a previously unexplored 170 metre section of ground along the southern extension of the reef

Nuggetty Reef was first discovered during the 1850s gold rush and is recognised as one of the highest-grade historic gold deposits in Australia. The reef has an estimated historical gold production of 301,000 ounces from around 50,000 tonnes of ore, equating to an incredible average grade of approximately 187 grams per tonne.

Permitting for the program is currently underway, with drilling anticipated to commence in September and continue for several months.

The Union Hill team recently celebrated an exciting milestone, with a jumbo drill rig returning to service in the Union Hill decline for the first time in many years.

This moment marks the return of modern mechanised underground operations at one of Victoria’s most significant historic goldfields.

The jumbo will support ongoing underground rehabilitation, mine development, and the installation of modern ground support as work continues at Union Hill.

Introducing the Mine Rehabilitation Team

Underground rehabilitation and site preparation form an important part of our ongoing work at Union Hill. Before further underground activities can begin, access, ground and site conditions must be carefully managed.

This work is carried out by the mine rehabilitation team:

🔹 Kristen Grubb - Loader Operator (left)

Together, the team undertakes rehabilitation activities across the site, including drilling and blasting, installing ground support, moving waste rock, and maintaining infrastructure.

This work helps ensure conditions are suitable for personnel to operate safely and efficiently, supports access for modern mining equipment, and enables the development of exploration drives and underground diamond drilling.

The mine rehabilitation team plays an integral role in our work at Maldon, forming part of a structured and staged approach to site development at Union Hill. Rehabilitation works continue alongside ongoing exploration and reclamation activities across the broader Maldon Gold Project.

We recently hosted an underground training exercise run by the Central Victorian Mine Rescue Group (CVMRG) at our Union Hill Mine, with our own Sean McCubbin taking part.

The exercise involved ISH24, CFA’s Oscar 1, and emergency response teams from mines across Victoria, working together in a realistic underground scenario.

Sean also hosted a tour of our Porcupine Flat processing plant for attendees, providing an overview of site operations.

We were pleased to support the exercise through the use of our site and commend all those involved in the CVMRG for their ongoing work and commitment to mine safety across the industry.

Work on our Maldon Historical Data Compilation Project is continuing, with almost 1,000 historical items now digitised and consolidated into a structured archive.

The project focuses on researching and digitising historical records from across the Maldon Goldfield. This includes drill logs, maps, plans and reports from our own records, along with material sourced from government, museum, library and private collections.

Large-format maps and plans are being scanned at the Maldon Museum & Archives Association, creating a valuable exchange of information. Digitised items contribute to the museum’s collection, while its records continue to support our research.

This work is helping preserve the district’s mining history while building a clearer understanding of how the goldfield was explored and mined over time.

Underground rehabilitation at Union Hill will begin in May, following recent infrastructure upgrades to support this next phase of activity.

The works involve rehabilitation of underground areas to the west of the pit, with controlled blasting required as part of the process. Blasting will be short in duration, occur as needed, and be carried out in line with relevant regulations and safety requirements.

We recently held a small meeting with residents living within 200 metres of the planned work area, providing an opportunity to share information, outline what to expect, and answer questions.

A range of measures are in place to minimise impacts, including:

• Careful scheduling of blasts
• Maintenance of equipment
• Use of a noise bund
• Dust suppression
• Blast design to minimise ground vibration

Did you know that the rock crusher at our Porcupine Flat processing plant is named after royalty?

In keeping with a long-standing mining tradition, our 42-inch jaw crusher is named Lizzie in honour of Queen Elizabeth II, as it was commissioned on the day of her passing.

During the 19th century, it was common for mining machinery to be named after members of the royal family, often marked with celebration and ceremony.

In 1860, the director of Maldon’s Eagle Hawk Association broke a bottle of champagne over the flywheel of their “splendid new stamping engine”, naming it the Prince of Wales in commemoration of Queen Victoria’s eldest son’s birthday. Three cheers were given, with those present toasting to the success of the engine, Eagle Hawk, Maldon and Victoria.

In 1897, the Beehive and German Company celebrated the start of their newly installed winding plant with a gathering of shareholders and visitors. The engine house was decorated with flowers, and the plant was named “Victoria” in honour of the Queen’s Jubilee year.

We’re fortunate to be working in a goldfield with such a long and interesting history, and we’re proud to continue that tradition in a small way through our own operations.

Lowther Street update 👇

Our recently purchased property at 1 Lowther Street has reached settlement, marking a step forward in plans for the site.

Located just across from Union Hill, the 4.7-acre block provides an open space that could support a range of future uses.

🌿 Ideas are currently being gathered and explored
🛠️ Early works will focus on site clean-up

Over the coming weeks, work will begin on tidying up the property, including w**d control, removal of debris, and general maintenance. These early steps will help prepare the area for safe access and future use.

There has been a strong response from locals since our last update, with a range of ideas already shared. This input will help guide the next stage, as different options for the area are explored.

OUR OPERATIONS

An aerial magnetics survey is planned for later in the year, which will help the Maldon Exploration Team build a clearer understanding of the geology beneath the surface.

The survey will be undertaken by helicopter, flying across the area to measure small variations in the Earth’s magnetic field. These subtle differences can reveal patterns in the underlying rock, allowing geological structures to be mapped.

This work will complement other exploration programs, including soil sampling, and contribute to a broader picture of the Maldon Goldfield.
