What varieties of wine can you expect to find coming out of the Pemberton and Manjimup Regions? Read on!

Pemberton Wine Region
The top varieties grown in Pemberton include Chardonnay, Merlot and Pinot Noir. Chardonnay is the most widely planted variety, with plantings of the Gingin clone as well as 76, 95, 96 and 277.

Manjimup Wine Region
Manjimup sees success with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, Chardonnay and Verdelho. Dr John Gladstone (an influential local agronomist) observed that both mean temperatures and sunshine hours are very close to those of Bordeaux. It is thus no surprise to find that Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot dominate the plantings and some very appealing and elegant Cabernet Merlot blends have been produced.

Between February and April each year, the vineyards of Pemberton and Manjimup come alive as wine grapes are carefully handpicked at their peak.

These cool-climate regions produce exceptional fruit, thanks to the unique terroir and dedication of local growers. The result? Stunning wines that truly reflect the beauty of our region.

The RSM Southern Forests and Valleys Wine Show held annually in Manjimup brings together expert judges from across Australia to taste and discover their favourite cool-climate varieties from the Southern Forests and beyond. Organised by the Rotary Club of Manjimup, the wine show celebrates the region's world-class wines and the passionate producers behind them.

The Southern Forests region is located in the beautiful South West corner of Western Australia and is home to the Manjimup and Pemberton wine regions, as well as over 50 different types of fruits and vegetables, truffles, nuts, wine, gourmet products, beef, sheep and dairy farms.

Heading into the region, the forests open up on the town of Manjimup, where agricultural land is dotted with magnificent karri trees. Further south is Pemberton where the forest is more established, with many karri trees well over 300 years old.

Towards the coast lies the scenic town of Northcliffe surrounded by towering forests and rich coastal plains and wetlands. Further south is Walpole, which is set on the tranquil waters of the Walpole Inlet.
In what is a small pocket of Western Australia, the Southern Forests region is one of incredible variety and abundance whose status as one of the Australia’s premier food bowls is growing every day.
