Peter Garrett AM has been appointed Chair of the Landcare Australia Board.

Peter was there at the very beginning of Landcare. As President of the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF), Peter took part in discussions in Canberra during the formation of the historic alliance between conservationists and farmers that led to the creation of Landcare. He worked closely with ACF’s Phillip Toyne and the National Farmers’ Federation’s Rick Farley to lobby the Hawke government to establish the National Landcare Programme and the independent, not‑for‑profit organisation Landcare Australia.

Let's hope Peter can shake the tree again to revitalise the neglected Landcare movement.

Workshop Leaders Wanted!!!
SFCL’s Sustainability Campaign needs anyone with a skill and a passion to run small workshops at the Northcliffe Tip with Stephen. Stephen’s ‘Waste Sorted’ project vision includes community members coming in and presenting free small workshops utilising the tips unlimited resources. Here’s an example. Do you know how to repair/maintain bicycles and are are willing to share that knowledge? Community members can choose a bicycle and with your help, fix it up and take it home for free. The opportunities are endless and just need people like you to jump in and give it a go.
Additionally, Stephen would like to know what workshops the community would like. Here’s another example, 20L chemical drums turned into vege beds, it works a treat. All ideas invited, please pop your thoughts on this post or PM me if you prefer. Can’t wait to see what ideas are generated.
