Reminder that today SFCL is running a Wildlife Friendly Garden workshop from 10. -12 we will look at and build structures to encourage wildlife into our gardens.

Then a frog frenzy workshop from 1-3. We will learn about how to build ponds that suit frogs first and then use the frog ID app to see what we can find in the park.

Yay. I finally got a photo, even if not a great one, of birds using the bird bath at the Firewise Garden at Heritage Park. Every other time they are there and I race to get a shot they have flown away before I get back.

We share Portugal's pain. Pampas grass is another locally classified invasive w**d that has escaped the garden and is now in large clumps on vacant land and on the edges of reserves. Advice on control is in Comments.

Known for its showy plumes and used as an ornamental for decades, pampas grass, also known as Cortaderia selloana, is spreading, threatening biodiversity and raising vegetation management costs. Experts call for urgent action to halt its advance and reduce pollen exposure.
