Our AGM is tomorrow, and for a group of busy co-directors who are often scattered all over the place - it can be one of the few times we're all actually in the same room together. 🤭

There will be the usual important co-op business stuff to work through, of course - but then there will also be plenty of catching up, sharing what's been happening and enjoying some time together.

Probably just as well we have that agenda to keep us on track!

After four wonderful weeks in Scotland reconnecting with family (and two weeks back - recovering and catching up), I'm feeling incredibly grateful.

One of the things we value at Sage Room Co-op is creating sustainable ways of working that support both business and our lives. Being able to spend quality time with loved ones while staying connected through flexible working is a reminder that work doesn't have to come at the expense of what matters most.

As a collective of five independent businesses, we're passionate about building healthier ways to work, collaborate and thrive. Here's to family, flexibility, and finding balance. Enjoy some Scottish scenery!

The 2027 Sage Strategic Reset Retreat dates are now live.

Two opportunities to step away from the day-to-day, create space to think, and spend three days resetting alongside a small group of women in business.

🌿 Retreat 1: 19-21 February 2027
🌿 Retreat 2: 20-22 August 2027

Just 6 women per retreat, in a beautiful private home within two hours of Brisbane.

After 6 years, Sage Room Co-op *finally* has signage!

It may have been a little while in the making, but once we were ready to go, the process couldn’t have been easier.

A big thank you to Brisprint in Wynnum for making it so simple - just 7 days from go-ahead to finished signage, with installation taken care of too.

Friendly, efficient and completely hassle-free… exactly what you hope for when ticking off one of those long-awaited jobs.

And we have to say, it’s pretty lovely seeing the Sage Room name up there at last. 💚

Kel from Blackandles was the first person we thought of when we needed something special for our retreat gift packs. She has this uncanny ability to pair scents - not just with each other, but with people, spaces, and moments. Her Sage & Lemongrass blend was spot‑on for us - grounding, bright, and quietly focusing, exactly the energy we wanted to set for our first ever public retreat.

We’re so lucky to have businesses like hers in our Bayside community - thoughtful, creative, and deeply connected to the people they serve. And honestly, maybe it’s no coincidence that so many incredible female‑led and owned businesses keep gravitating toward each other here. 😉There’s a shared spark, and Kel’s work is part of that. The candles helped our participants settle in and feel present from the moment they arrived.

There couldn’t have been a more fitting final stop after our Byron Bay retreat.

On the drive home to Brisbane, we visited The Farm at Byron Bay - a working regenerative farm where a co-op of small businesses operate around the shared purpose of Grow, Feed, Educate.

It felt like an especially appropriate place to finish a weekend centred on connection, collaboration and co-operative thinking, with a model that similarly brings people and businesses together around shared values.

We enjoyed beautiful food, explored the farm, met the resident baby goats, and had one last opportunity to spend time together before saying goodbye to new friends and heading home.

A thoughtful and fitting end to a very successful weekend.

We’re back from our Strategic Reset Retreat with five local business owners, founders and CEOs ... and what a weekend!

Biggest surprise was how quickly the group connected, and how quickly trust was built in the room.

The biggest challenge was the Wi-Fi - grr.

And the biggest value was the depth of the work, the quality of the conversations and the questions people were willing to explore were incredible.

We came home feeling very proud to be part of co-op that can create this kind of space. Somewhere business owners, founders and CEOs can step away from the day-to-day, work on their business, and make some space to work on themselves too.

A pretty special few days.

Something’s brewing for the Bayside.

Advertising opportunities for the 2027 Visit Wynnum Manly Visitors Guide will be opening very soon.

We’re currently putting the finishing touches on the new Media Kit, website and advertiser booking experience - making it easier for local businesses to see what’s available, choose the right option and get involved.

The Guide is all about giving people more reasons to visit, explore, eat, shop, stay and spend time across Wynnum, Manly, Lota and our beautiful Moreton Bay.

And, naturally, the local businesses that make this area worth visiting are a pretty important part of that story.
