Judy 🌸

Running your Hair & Beauty Salon while trying to consistently do your own bookkeeping and financial reports can be overwhelming. I speak to many Hair & Beauty Salon owners who have told me they struggle with these things:

🤯 Keeping their bookkeeping up to date
🤯 Doing their staff wages
🤯 Getting their BAS lodged on time
🤯 Keeping on top of the rules around payroll and GST

Managing your busine

ss and serving your existing clients, while also trying doing all the bookkeeping and other accounting tasks all by yourself can get really overwhelming, right? Especially when it's not your natural skill set. All these tedious tasks can take away so much of your time and energy that you could have spent serving your beautiful customers and doing what you love and what you’re good at. It’s not enough to just run the business. You want to see it grow and flourish! For your business to flourish, you will need to be at your 100% all the time. This can be impossible to do when you have way too many things on your plate! I have met a lot of business owners, like you, who struggled with the same problems. With my vast knowledge and experience in bookkeeping and accounting, I was able to lighten up their workload by taking charge of Bookkeeping, Budgeting, Invoice Processing, Outsourcing, and Payroll Services. As a result, they were able to focus more on what they do best - serving their clients and growing their business! Here's everything I can help you with:

āœ”ļø Bookkeeping
āœ”ļø BAS Preparation & Lodgment
āœ”ļø Payroll
āœ”ļø Financial Reports
āœ”ļø Software/App Solutions

Mornings are ME time, don’t you think?

Most days are so busy and unpredictable, by 10am it feels like the train’s left the station and I’m running to catch up!

Having a regular morning routine grounds me so I’m ready for it.

Here’s what I do every morning:

1- Wake up at 6:00am. I set the alarm but really don’t need to because I wake up at that time.

2- Drink a glass or two of lemon water and get ready for my workout. Exercising in the morning gives me energy for the day. So 2-3 days a week I’ll do CrossFit, the other days I’ll go for a run, stretch or do some yoga.

3- Make my bed, shower & eat breakfast, which consists of a flaxseed muffin or oatmeal with berries. Boring, I know!

4- Open my laptop and look at my notes from yesterday so I can reconnect to my intention and what I want to achieve.

5- Spend a quick minute running through emails and catching up with my team.

Then I shut it all down and get to work! (still working on the ā€œshut it downā€ part!)

What’s your morning routine? I love trying new things!

Life is so short! Do you love what you do?

The English dictionary defines purpose as ā€œthe reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.ā€

There are so many reasons we do things…maybe life took you down a certain path…or you have a family to care for…or a spouse or friend persuaded you…maybe sometimes you even look back and wonder how you got here.

The fastest way to ignite your passion for something is to remind yourself why you’re doing it. That will help you get through times when things don’t go as expected, or take longer than you think. Just remember your WHY and keep working at it! You can do it!

I’m so proud of you for not giving up, for facing challenges, for moving forward and forging ahead because you wouldn’t be the YOU you are today without all of that….. You are beautiful and amazing.

Have you ever looked at someone else’s success and felt like you weren’t doing enough?

(raising my hand right now!)

I’m a pro at comparing myself to others.

It usually sneaks up when I’m searching for info online or some guide to help me. Pretty soon I’ll forget what I’m looking for and start focusing on their success instead.

Then it hits me…the wave of jealousy.

But you know what? I’ve learned to pull myself off the cliff when that happens.
Comparing only sets us back.

So whenever I feel that wave coming on, here’s what I do:

1- I remind myself that their level of success is not a checkpoint for my own, nor does it threaten my success in any way. There’s more than enough to go around!

2- I get to work. If I have time to think about what they’re doing, I’m a slacker (kidding). Seriously though, when I’m super busy I don’t care about what anyone else is up to.

3- Use their success as inspiration. I acknowledge that they worked hard to get where they are. And since I’m working hard too, I’ll get there.

4- Pat myself on the back. I take a minute to celebrate what I’ve accomplished and the progress I’m making each month.

And if progress feels slow, that’s okay. It doesn’t matter how fast I move because forward is forward. I’ll reach my goals, and so will you!

How do you stay positive and focused?

Everything You Need To Know About STP 2: Part 2

>What is STP 2 for and how does it affect business?

The purpose of STP 2 is to make sure that more payroll data is being provided to more government departments for proper and more efficient administration.

In Phase 2, information will be fed directly into Services Australia agencies such as Centrelink and Child Support.

For employees, this new system reduces the amount of documentation required to report and make claims. Phase 2 also ensures the accuracy of payments due and expedite individual tax processes as income details will be pre-filled in each employee’s tax return.

>What challenges does STP 2 pose to employers?

To properly implement STP 2, employers are obligated to ensure the accuracy of payroll data that is being transmitted.

You need a payroll software that is approved by the ATO to transmit STP 2 data.

An ATO-approved software will come pre-configured with the available labels and codes to operate STP 2.

You may also need to have the following Payroll Skills...
1. Experience in properly operating an STP 2 compliant payroll software.
2. Bookkeeping and organizational skills to efficiently process a payroll
3. Knowledge of the available STP 2 labels and codes
4. Payroll knowledge base, from terminology, legislation, employer obligations, to properly select STP 2 labels and codes when processing payroll.

If all of these sound overwhelming to you, I can help you tailor a solution that suits you and your desired approach.

Are you swamped with tasks and don't have enough time to start implementing STP 2 for your business?

I can help you come up with a successful approach to STP 2 so that all compliance deadlines are met.

You can do whatever you want! Stay on your path and let others stay on theirs! You don’t have to limit yourself to the same path they're on!

And if you want to wear your PJ's all day or eat a pint of ice cream at 2am, do it!

There's no right or wrong way.

You guys know I’m all about the ā€œfreedom sideā€ of entrepreneurship. In fact, I’m more motivated by the idea of freedom than I am by money.

So when I started my business, I couldn’t wait to vacation whenever I wanted, travel the world, and spend waaay more time hanging with friends and family.

But guess what? Those perks are hard-earned.

When you have big dreams, you need to make big sacrifices.
The one I’m feeling the most lately is my social life (or lack of it, lol). My [person] has to keep reminding me to come up for air and I really struggle with the whole work/life balance thing.

Still, there’s nothing I love more than sharing a drink with friends and Zoom calls with my biz buds.

So because my time is limited I’ve learned to be super selective and only make time for people who lift me up, inspire me, and support me. Even though I see them less than I would like right now, I value them SOOO much more than they could ever know.

They say adversity breeds success and it's true.

When you have only one option – or you perceive you only have one option – your determination to fight kicks into gear. Adversity is our greatest motivator.

(That's why you should never give yourself a Plan B!)

As humans, we're always going to want to take the easy road until that road ends and we're forced to choose a different one.

One that may appear to be harder…one that challenges us to overcome and conquer our fears and false beliefs.

Determination helps you in life because it helps you become motivated to accomplish your fears, tasks, or mental blocks. Also meaning, determination helps get you through tough situations in life and help you in ways that make you think you are a good person, no matter how hard the situation is.

Are you prepared for the Superannuation Guarantee rate rise?

The percentage rate for superannuation guarantee payments is currently at 10.0%.

The SG is set to rise again to 10.5% from July 1, 2022 for the 2022–23 financial year and is due to increase a further 0.5% each year until it reaches 12% in 2025. These increases have been legislated by the Australian Government.

This means that starting on July 1st, employees are eligible for super guarantee (SG), regardless of how much they earn.

If an employer fails to pay the required rate of SG by the quarterly due date, there will be a Superannuation Guarantee Charge (SGC) that needs to be paid to the ATO. This will include all the SG amounts owing to an employee, as well as the interest and an administration fee.

To avoid SGC, see to it that you are using the new rate to calculate super on your employee's payments on or after 1 July.

Make sure you have updated payroll and accounting system so that you know you are paying the right amount of super for your employees.

If you help with this, send me a message and let's chat!

All you need is focus

šŸ’„ What you give your focus to, you act on.
šŸ’„ What you act on, you give your effort to.
šŸ’„ Where you give your effort, you see results.

Too often we don’t realize the power of focus so we let it go bye-bye. 🌈✨

Focus your mind.
Focus your actions.
Focus your thoughts.
Focus your goals.

Then step into your power.

What did you give your focus to today?

Like most humans, I’m almost always in a hurry to get things done. Reach my goals. Build the life I want. Change the world in one way or another.

Unfortunately, this leaves little or no time to reflect and be grateful for the things I have. This week, I made a conscious decision to stop and be grateful for the following things:

1. Life

Most days I’m sure I take life for granted. As I reflected on it, I remembered friends, acquaintances and even family whose lives ended too soon. I’m not guaranteed next month, next week, or even tomorrow, and I’m grateful for the life I have and those who surround me.

2. Opportunities

I have a job I love, family who loves me, and the opportunities that I’m blessed with. I know not everyone has the same opportunities, and I’m forever grateful for it.

3. The journey

I’ve had great days and really great days! At the same time, I’ve had days when I felt like I’ve had enough. I am grateful that the hard times taught me to be resilient and bounce back.

I’d love to hear what you are grateful for! Share in the comments!

Everything You Need To Know About STP 2: Part 1

You've probably heard about STP 2 and have been wondering what it is and how it will affect your business?

If you are an employer, you are required to be onboard with STP 2. Here's Everything You Need To Know About STP 2 (Part 1)

> What is STP Phase 2?

STP 2 is the continuation of the first phase of Single Touch Payroll (STP), an ATO initiative designed to streamline the reporting of employee pay, tax withheld and superannuation.

> What are the main changes in STP Phase 2?

STP Phase 2 introduces changes that reduce reporting requirements across the following four areas.

1. Tax File Number Declarations including the TFN itself, employment type and whether the employee has a HECS-HELP debt should now be included in STP reports.

2. Employee Separation Certificates are no longer required as the reason why an employee has left the business will now be provided via STP reports.

3. Lump Sum E payments information must now be included in Phase 2 reporting, with details of the payment appearing in the employee’s income statement.

4. Child Support garnishees and deductions can now be included in STP reports, reducing the need to provide separate advice to the Child Support Registrar.

> Does my business need to comply with STP?
YES. STP Phase 2 is a continuation of STP and remains mandatory. The government requires all businesses to adopt STP 2 and and failure to comply may result to penalties from the ATO.

Sole traders and freelancers that do not employ others do not need to comply with STP requirements.

Are you swamped with tasks and don't have enough time to start implementing STP 2 for your business?

I can help you come up with a successful approach to STP 2 so that all compliance deadlines are met.
