Before the beginning of the horse-human relationship, a horse with poor muscle function would not have survived as long as one with healthy muscle function, for the simple fact that the horse with a healthy muscle system would be able to out run a predator quicker and easier than a horse with muscle dysfunction. In the modern world the horse is relied upon as a form of income, for competition, as

a team mate and companion. In all aspects of the horse industry I believe it would be a great benefit for riders, trainers, and owners to maintain their horses muscle function in order to achieve the best possible performance out of the horse, to minimise the risk of injury and to allow for longevity in the horses career and lifetime. More importantly, to allow the horse to co-exist in a less stressful environment with humans, both mentally and physically, by reducing pain and dysfunction and increasing performance and health.
