We love wine and we believe one of life's great pleasures is sharing the experience of beautiful wine. This is what inspires us to create wines that people love and enjoy as much as we do. All of our wines aim to capture the essence of Margaret River, from our signature regional wine styles, to something for the more adventurous. We make Serie Luminosa, Stella Bella, Suckfizzle and Skuttlebutt wines to complement your lifestyle and create a memorable wine experience. Our winery and vineyards are located in southern Margaret River, an area of our region we love for its unique climate, landscape and abundant beauty. The trees are taller, the rainfall higher, the climate cooler and the vines flourish. This pure and pristine environment creates wines with finesse and elegance. We use respectful and sustainable farming practices in harmony with a winemaking approach based on flavour not recipe.

Chardonnay and Cabernet are two varieties we care deeply about, so to see three w**es recognised across the Stella Bella, Suckfizzle and Luminosa ranges is incredibly special.

It’s also a lovely reflection of the breadth of our southern Margaret River sites, and the work that happens quietly behind the scenes, from vineyard to w**ery.

A huge thank you to the judges, and congratulations to all the other producers recognised this year.

Plenty of love for Chardonnay and Cabernet in Margaret River, and we’re very happy to be part of that story.

Three years on in our Karridale Chardonnay block, and things are looking pretty special.

Jim has been out checking on the young vines, surrounded by a sea of crimson clover and some of the most beautiful natural bushland in the region.

The clover isn’t just there because it looks good, although it certainly does that. It helps bring life into the vineyard, attracting beneficial insects and building a healthier, more balanced system around the vines.

We’re hoping to encourage it to self-seed each year, creating a living cover crop that keeps working with us season after season.

Around the block, the native bushland plays its part too, supporting biodiversity and bringing in beneficial predators like owls, bats and insects that help keep the vineyard in balance.

The vines themselves are looking incredibly healthy and showing so much promise.

Healthy soils, healthy cover crops, lush forest all around, and cool Karridale air.

Not a bad place to grow Chardonnay.

In fact, it might just be one of the best.

A bottle of Stella Bella, a little sunshine, and a quiet spot out the back of our Cellar Door looking over the vines.

Not complicated. Just one of those lovely Margaret River moments that reminds us how lucky we are to call this place home.

A little vineyard trial happening in Block 10 at Luminosa.

At this time of year, we can start to see weevil activity in the vineyard, so Jim and the team are testing wood vinegar as a natural, biomass-derived weevil suppressant in one of our Chardonnay blocks.

Wood vinegar is created through the pyrolysis of forestry and plantation residue. It’s acidic, naturally high in acetic acid, and contains a whole range of organic compounds created during the breakdown of biomass.

The idea behind the trial is to see how it performs in the vineyard.

Will it help suppress weevil larvae?
Will it support stronger, more resilient vines?
Will it create a natural barrier between the mid rows and the vines?

We don’t know yet, and that’s the point of trialling.

For us, sustainability isn’t just a statement. It’s the ongoing work of observing, testing, learning and finding better ways to farm.

Small trials. Big picture thinking.

A little hands-on work in the Luminosa Sangiovese.

After the recent rain, Jim and the vineyard team have been shoot thinning through the block, opening up the cordon to allow more sunlight and airflow through the canopy.

It’s simple, careful work, but it makes a big difference.

Better airflow helps keep the fruit zone clean and healthy, allowing nature to do more of the work when it comes to reducing disease pressure.

This Sangiovese goes into our Otro Vino Rosé and The Italian, so the quality starts right here, long before it reaches the w**ery.

At Luminosa, we don’t use herbicides, and the undervine growth is looking beautiful, bringing life, biodiversity and balance into the vineyard.

Little moments like this say a lot about how we grow.

Hands-on, thoughtful, and always with the fruit in mind.

A little spring update from Karridale.

Jim has been out checking on our young Chardonnay block, planted from Gin Gin Chardonnay cuttings taken from our Luminosa vineyard.

The vines are looking beautifully even, with strong growth across the block. This week we’ve been removing shoots from the trunks, helping direct the vine’s energy into the main shoots where we want it.

Tiny inflorescences are starting to appear, wire lifting isn’t far away, and the vines are absolutely loving this warm spring weather.

Last year gave us our first vintage from this block, and the early signs were incredibly exciting. We’re looking forward to seeing what this season brings.

There’s plenty happening underfoot too. The cover crop has been mulched back into the rows to return nutrients to the soil, and wood chips around the vines are helping retain moisture as the weather warms.

Healthy soil, strong young vines, beautiful Karridale country.

That’s where great Chardonnay begins.

We are so excited to see this unique visitor at Rosa Brook Road today.

We were lucky enough to spot a Baudin’s Black Cockatoo near our Cellar Door, and not just any Baudin’s, but a striking leucistic bird with unusually pale plumage.

We remember seeing some amazing photos that Sean from Margaret River Discovery Co took last year, as he said, seeing this bird was “Like spotting a Unicorn. With wings!”

This was definitely one of those stop-you-in-your-tracks vineyard moments.

Baudin’s Cockatoos are native to the south west of Western Australia and are an endangered species, so seeing one this close is always special. Seeing a leucistic individual is something else again.

Leucism is a rare natural variation that affects pigment in the feathers, giving birds this beautiful pale look.

We kept our distance, admired it quietly, and felt very lucky to share the morning with such an extraordinary bird.

A good reminder that vineyards can be home to so much more than vines.

The stripeys have arrived.

Eric is officially a proud vineyard dad, with five little emu chicks now hatched at our Luminosa vineyard.

There are still a few eggs left, so we’re keeping our distance and waiting to see whether any more tiny legs join the mob.

For now, we’re very excited to welcome these little stripey additions to the Luminosa family.

And yes, we think they need names.
