Opinions and reviews on cafes and restaurants on the Sunshine Coast. A good place to rave about grea I appreciate good service and endure bad service.

I eat out a lot and have always enjoyed critiquing the places while there. Finally I decided to put my words out there and see if anyone else can relate. We'll see where this goes but I do really enjoy writing about my experiences and hopefully it helps people to make informed choices when looking for a café or restaurant on the Sunshine Coast - or as a bit of honest feedback for the restaurant or

café owners from a local. Despite having over 300 facebook friends on my personal page, I decided to remain anonymous on here just as an experiment to see if I get any genuine likes, rather than like a lot of supportive or pity likes by people I know. If I end up with no likes then no harm done!

Dirty Moe’s, Mooloolaba

Without a doubt Dirty Moes is one of the more popular and highly rated destination in Mooloolaba, so I was excited about their $10 burger 🍔 deal 3-5pm Fri to Sun which is half the regular price.
From the reviews, the regular menu and the meats seem to be the best in town, but unfortunately the burgers didn’t reflect that. Hard to admit, but I wasn’t blown away by the double cheeseburgers 🍔 we tried. Okay value for $10, but didn’t meet the lofty expectations that accompany this restaurant’s reputation. The burger patties were quite thin/flat and therefore not juicy and lacked some flavour. Had I paid $20 for this I would have been severely disappointed.
The chilli cheese 🌶 🧀 fries however hit the mark and their sticky date espresso martinis 🍸 were close to perfection!! 💯👌

Fantastic venue, good vibes, great tunes, outstanding cocktails 🍹 and I may have to come back and give the food another try some other day.

🥗NOURISHING GOODNESS IN MALENY🍏

This place really surprised me with its simplicity and deliciousness. Clean, vegan cafe in Maleny, on the same premises as The Barrel winery so you can eat healthy before breaking bad and indulging in a few cheeky Vinos next door. 🍷🍷 😉
I read over 30 five star reviews on google declaring how amazing the food is here so I had to try it and I’m glad to say it didn’t disappoint. The potato patties with caramelised onion and garden salad were absolutely incredible!💯 The salad 🥗 itself was ridiculously good and the addition of capers, almonds and asparagus to the greens took this to the next level. Big portions for the price 💵 as well and plenty of raw desserts to choose from if you have a sweet tooth. 🍰 Great spot to stop at on a day out. 🌞

🌶*MELBOURNE FLAVOUR IN MAROOCHYDORE*🥃

Overall : 9/10
If you’re looking for amazing food 🥘 and top notch cocktails 🍸 🍹 , give this place a try. Two of the best cocktails I’ve tried recently - I couldn’t fault the coconut chilli 🌶 🥥 margarita or the espresso martini with sailor Jerry’s rum and a hint of coconut. Creative twist on the traditional recipe but they worked incredibly well! 💯
Food was ridiculously good👌 🤤 . The braised beef intercostals (that’s the tender bits between the ribs) with red nahm jim and the pad thai worked really well together. Generous portion servings and great value made this a win✔️.

Owned and run by a group of 4 brothers and sisters who also own Ol’ Cactus in alex heads, it made me feel like I was back in Melb.
Oh... and they do a yum-cha AND a “beer”-cha! 🍺 (mmmm... beeer cha.)

*BREAKFAST DECISIONS*🥙🥗☕️
Overall : 7/10
I love a place that offers diversity in their breakfast menu outside of the standard bacon, eggs and toast. The menu at decisions had me intrigued with their superfood, super junk and ready made salads, 🥗catering for both healthy and indulgent (check out the “build your own ice cream doughie sandwiches”). 🍦🍪

I opted for the nasi goreng which was packed with fresh veggies and greens 🥦🥕🥒🌶and made with brown rice, quinoa and farro which ticked all the healthy eating boxes for me. ✔️✔️
Full of flavour (probably a little too much for such a large dish that early) and topped with an egg. We also had the Buddha bowl which was overflowing with delicious goodness and looked amazing.

Both meals were huuuge and we barely got through them. The coffee☕️ hit all the right notes as well and the place was full of activity and good vibes. Great meeting place and would be ideal for business meetings in the weekday too. Service isn’t their point of difference as it works off a counter service model and the bottleneck at the counter blocks traffic flow but the food, menu choices and atmosphere make this worth a visit.

🍏💯HEALTHY BREAKFAST ON THE ESPLANADE🥗
‼️Overall 7/10 💫

I’ve been craving açai bowls all of a sudden recently and they seem to be everywhere on SC🌏. But some are definitely better than others. This was probably one of the better ones with pistachio crumble granola, dairy free coco yoghurt and fresh fruit. Although I didn’t really taste the pistachios, I definitely picked up on hazelnuts and the granola worked well with the whole mix ‼️My partner had the avocado and mushrooms on gf toast which was overall a good dish that could have been much better if the bread had been toasted more as it was soft and and barely crisp... The accompanying house made relish was delicious🔆 and the freshly squeezed OJ was spot on✅First time eating here and the ocean views and busy morning vibe of the esplanade was a big plus 🌊

Trying one of the stand outs on Ocean street Maroochydore, we opted for a quick breakfast at Zartah where the middle eastern culture combines with classic Australian cuisine🍤This venue has a fantastic bargain currently offered through Groupon, 💯with almost any two Breakfast options and two small coffees of your choice for just $19‼️Great option for yourself and partner to enjoy quality food or gift to a friend!(here’s a link: https://www.groupon.com.au/visitor_referral/h/86fda035-a43a-4a6a-bc4a-73f24290df84)

OVERALL: 7.5/10🌟The coffee was the highlight at this spot so make sure to try it!

Fortunately, quality didn’t seem to diminish in our meals even with this ongoing special as they were well portioned and for the most part faultless. 🥪The big breakfast was accompanied with all the correct ingredients that complemented each other really well. It should satisfy anyone who enjoys this type of meal. 🥓The other meal was the Potato Rosti which was filled with succulent flavours, great presentation and served quickly. 👍The Potato Rosti was a little burnt around the edges but it had little effect on the overall meal. Their menu appears diverse and offers options from cocktails 🍸to food choices 🍱and as you may expect prices are competitive within the area and reasonable! I’ve heard that the waiters are travellers👩‍💼 but that had no effect on their attitude and co-operativeness.

❗️COFFEE ☕️ REVIEW🔆
A good coffee shop doesn’t just make good coffee, it does it consistently on a daily basis💯. I have tried and abandoned a few great coffee shops because they couldn’t deliver consistency. The Stoker Brewhouse at the Boardstore however, has delivered consistently good coffee on a regular and almost daily basis for the last 3 months✅. The 3 baristas all seem to be skilled at their craft, have a passion for their trade and deliver warm and friendly banter whilst you wait. This small cafe was an unexpected discovery as I didn’t expect a coffee shop sharing space with a skate board store to deliver. But they have. And it’s a great concept. ⚠️
As a bonus, they are open late, serve alcohol and even deliver locally on their electric board!! A win and a thumbs up on all fronts. 👍

🍝🍜🥗SERIOUSLY GOOD FOOD 🥘🍲🍱

This has to be one of the best meals I’ve had this year. Packed full of authentic flavor, good portion size and delicious to the last bite. Founded by 3 mates, including 2016 Masterchef runner up Matt Sinclair‼️ the venue and Asian inspired cocktail and food menu are all amazing with brilliant service to match. The vibe and energy in here was awesome and I love the way they have designed the restaurant and it’s edgy decor. If you like full flavor dishes, put this on your list ASAP💯Those with a sensitive, softer palette however, may find the flavors a little too overpowering for a full meal, so the shared dishes options may be a better recommendation with rice or roti to balance the meal.
Price was a little more than I initially expected to pay, but good value portion servings and justified overall. 🔆

Thought I'd start this years reviews with one of my top 3 no-fuss eateries on the Sunshine Coast. If you’re looking for amazing food at reasonable prices and a quiet place to eat, this modern Australian / Japanese influenced cafe in the business park of Moffat Beach, is for you - Zee Cafe!
OVERALL RATING: 4.5/5⭐️

Japanese food is given a great deal of thought and effort and you'll find this to be true at Zee! The ingredients are always fresh and meals are unique and packed with flavour. The reasonable pricing of these delicious and fairly large portioned meals is an even bigger separator to its competitors. Although quirky in location, Zee Cafe, is one of those experiences that you want to share with everyone but at the same time keep this place as quiet as it is currently.
🍱FOOD AND QUALITY: So much taste and originality in these meals! 10/10
🍏HEALTHY OPTIONS: Ingredients always taste fresh and plenty of vegan and vegetarian options! 9/10
