This week saw Charles and Janice head over to the Hunter Region in New South Wales, to work with the Outage Lead Team from AGL Bayswater. The Bayswater Power Station meets 20% of NSW's electricity demand, so getting it right when it comes to managing outages and leading people is a pretty big deal!
Having worked with multiple organisations across the energy production space for close to three decades, Face The World is experienced in supporting teams to perform, achieve, and excel in this vital service provision industry.

Charles and Janice have spent the past two days leading a development and planning workshop for the Estate and Facilities Executive Lead Team from Adelaide University. This is an exciting opportunity to facilitate the work we are so passionate about for a team of leaders whose function is pivotal to the success of the university as a whole.
As AU continues to navigate the recent merger and forge ahead with building their reputation as a hub for future-defining research, transformative teaching, and an exceptional student experience, getting team basics right, developing trust, and forming short and long-term plans are key pillars in setting up for success.
We are incredibly proud that Face The World is able to support this team and this university which is shaping future leaders, both for South Australia and across the globe.

Earlier this week Charles and Janice managed to strategically avoid Cyclone Narelle and make it safely to sunny Geraldton, where they have spent the past 3 days with the Operations Lead Team from Mid West Ports! A fantastic team and a beautiful locale, what a positive way to roll into the long weekend. Happy Easter from Face The World!

2026 marks 10 years of Fleurieu Future Leaders Program

This means after completion of the 2026 program we will have an alumni network of close to 200 people!

200 people on the Fleurieu who are connected in more ways than one. 200 people who share a collective vision to protect and enhance the Fleurieu now and into the future.

This program would not have been possible without the work of the World (SA) Pty Ltd for their facilitation or for their ongoing support in funding.

Many of us are aware of the 5 stages of Bruce Tuckman's Team and Group Development Model:
๐Ÿ”น forming
๐Ÿ”น norming
๐Ÿ”น storming
๐Ÿ”น performing
๐Ÿ”น adjourning/ mourning....
Identifying what stage your team is at is an effective tool to explore behaviour and expectations, set cadence, and outline purpose and commitments. What leaders often miss is acknowledging some stages that don't fit so neatly into Tuckman's wonderful rhyming model!
Charles and Janice are working with a Facilities Management Lead Team from UniSA today, supporting them to do the important work of:
๐Ÿ”ธ reflection
๐Ÿ”ธ acknowledgement
๐ŸŽ‰ celebration!
As the university transitions into a new era under the banner of Adelaide University, this is vital team time to share gratitude for each other, recognise and acknowledge work completed, and plan for on-going success. The merger of two iconic universities paves the way for higher education in South Australia, and this team have an important role to play. Lots of history to celebrate and lots of work still to come - well done team!!

Charles and Janice are back in Queensland this week, escaping the South Aussie cold and enjoying some sun while they work with the Leadership Team from the CS Energy Callide Power Station.

The team are exploring the impact and opportunity created by identifying the many systems involved in leading people and teams; from the internal and personal, to the organisational and societal. Leading with a systems-thinking mindset creates space for empathy and curiosity in seeking to understand the motivations and values of others, and opportunity to create an engaging and motivational shared vision.
Systems Thinking provides a "zoomed-out" perspective on the different networks and structures that we operate within - providing opportunity for valuable perspective and evaluation.

Our annual community service (and, let's be honest - our passion project... We absolutely love it!) the Fleurieu Future Leaders Program kicks off today!
We are honored to be delivering the ninth year of the program to our community and supporting another amazing group of leaders through this incredible journey.
Let's do it!

WE ARE GO!!!!!!!! ๐ŸŽ‰

Our 2025 leaders are in the room - the journey begins today.

The FFLP team are filled with gratitude as we welcome this new cohort to our community; day one is always a fantastic mix of anticipation and excitement!

A very, VERY, big thank you to our incredible Program Partners Community Bank Fleurieu for their continued support; this is the ninth year of the FFLP and none of it would have been possible without their backing. Of course, a huge thank you also to our tireless volunteers for their work behind the scenes. 2025 - let's do it!

Janice and Charles head home from QLD today after finishing up with the third and final team for the week - the Senior Leadership Team from CS Energy Kogan Creek Power Station.

As this dynamic team of leaders steer the station and their people through challenging times, they continue to prioritise developing skills to remain agile and to lead with understanding.

By exploring Hersey and Blanchard's Situational Leadership model, these leaders are developing a flexible framework that will enable them to implement a variety of approaches and meet the different needs of the people they lead. Effective leaders are able to adapt their style to each situation; unfortunately, there is no single approach that is effective across the board! As key leaders in the energy production sector, this capacity for versatility is vital.

Charles and Janice are in Chinchilla, QLD this week working with two teams from the CS Energy Kogan Creek Power Station.
The energy production sector is experiencing a challenging period of complexity and volatility, so prioritising time to undertake "routine team maintenance" is incredibly important!

PS: Fun fact, Chinchilla is known as The Melon Capital of Australia!!
