This week on Empowering Leaders we’re joined by an entrepreneur, media personality, and beloved AFL legend. The record-holding Son of the West affectionately known as the ‘Smiling Assassin', the one and only Brad Johnson.

In this episode, Brad tells us about the eight long years he and his wife Donna spent building Zena Sport, the protective sportswear brand designed for women playing contact sport. From brilliant idea to years of dead ends, to the breakthrough moment that led them where they are today - on the shelves at Rebel Sport, and in demand internationally.

Brad talks about the discipline and drive it took to fulfil his dream career at the Western Bulldogs, and his commitment to supporting his own kids in the pursuit of theirs. He also shares his beautiful thoughts on leadership, opens up about his cancer diagnosis, the treatment that followed… and how he’s remained one of the happiest humans you’ll ever meet. Enjoy!

‘Running with the Kenyans’ tells the story of Adharanand Finn’s quest to discover what makes Kenyans some of the best distance runners in the world.

Moving to the Kenyan town of Iten with his young family, Adharanand spent six months immersed in the lifestyle and culture; interviewing coaches, training alongside athletes, and adopting habits and routines that he would put to the ultimate test in a marathon across the Kenyan plains.

There aren't many people qualified to speak about the Ben Roberts-Smith case with both insider knowledge and genuine impartiality.

But this week’s guest on the Empowering Leaders podcast can.

Harry Moffitt is a former SAS operator, psychologist and author, whose work sees him supporting people on all sides of this story that has not only rocked Australia’s military, but the nation as a whole.

In this episode, Harry also shares what it means to train the whole human, including the philosophical and moral interior most people never even consider. He speaks candidly about the cost of working in a role that demands so much time away from home, and what he has learnt about presence, community, and the difference between chasing ‘things’, and building a life.

Thinking of the great Neale Daniher, Jan and the entire Daniher family.

Neale is the most inspirational person I have ever had the privilege to meet.

This video captures a beautiful moment between Neale and his daughter Bec during our podcast conversation together.

To take a diagnosis that once came with very little hope and turn it into a movement that has now raised more than $138 million to Fight MND is extraordinary leadership, courage and humanity.

Neale’s impact goes far beyond football. He has changed the lives of countless families and inspired an entire nation through the way he has faced adversity.

Neale was full of wisdom.

“You don’t get to choose everything that happens to you, but you always get to choose who you become in response.”

Thank you Neale for inspiring us all. ❤️
