Based in McLaren Vale, South Australia, Alpha Box & Dice are embarking on an Alphabet of Wine. Each 'letter' embodies an individual winemaking project, with the end goal being a complete collection of wines that celebrates the diverse styles and varieties found in South Australia's famous wine regions, including McLaren Vale, Adelaide Hills and Barossa Valley. Since its beginning in 2008, AB&D has become a champion of South Australia's alternative – particularly Mediterranean – varieties, exhibiting innovation at every step of the process by bending traditional winemaking norms. Wines from the Alphabet of Wine are now available all over the world in some of the best restaurants and cellars.

FOG NEBBIOLO ☁️ 2019 ADELAIDE HILLS

From a tiny 2019 vintage that yielded just two barriques, this was always a w**e we wanted to see with some years behind it. Ripe cherry, generous dark fruits and those unmistakable Nebbiolo tannins, now melting into a long, silky finish. Once powerful and tightly wound, now rich and settled. We only held a small stash back, so there’s not much to go around.

Our 2026 Very Special Shiraz brings juicy dark berries, a little floral lift and a softer, more elegant side to McLaren Vale’s favourite grape. Take a closer look at what’s inside the glass.

NOSE ⟡ Blackberry, blackcurrant and pink flowers.

PALATE ⟡ Flavours of fresh berries and a slight hint of toasted brioche, accentuated by a mouthwatering acidity, peppered with gentle tannins.

PAIR ⟡ Pub grub! Steak frites or a beef schnitzel with mushroom sauce. Alternatively, skip the schnitzel and go straight to stuffed mushrooms.
