I'm super excited to announce that our second edition of sickle cell stories from warriors, caregivers, advocates and healthcare professionals is now published.

This book contains 25 stories from these stakeholders who narrate raw stories from the heart.

Like the first edition, this book has people's stories from different parts of the world.

You will read stories of hope, resilience, frustration, and sadness as we strive to bring these stories to the world.

Although being the most common disorder, what this project taught us was that even people living with sickle cell disease do not get adequate treatment in most parts of the world.

Sickle cell warriors are still stigmatised in different parts of the world. That sickle cell warriors would rather hide from peers or employers that they are affected, fearing the treatment they may receive.

🌟Next month, I'm back to my favourite city Sydney, attending two conferences and this speaking engagement.

🌟I will be discussing how our lives changed forever when our daughter was diagnosed with sickle cell disease.

🌟In what I have titled Everything Happens for a Reason, the time we found out about our daughter's diagnosis seemed like the end of the world.

🌟It's through this experience that I ended up finding my purpose in life.

🌟The journey was rough but through the divine power, our daughter was cured.

✅️Over the years I have had the pleasure of helping organisations start their advocacy journey.

✅️My first project was advocating for our family when our daughter was diagnosed with sickle cell disease.

✅️Through this life experience, I founded Australian Sickle Cell Advocacy. Now in our 5th year, the experience has been the best.

✅️Although every life experience has challenges, my work with ASCA has been fulfilling despite these challenges.

✅️My other project was the creation of a sickle cell movement The Amplify Sickle Cell Voices International Inc - ASVI.

✅️An initiative created by sickle cell warriors, caregivers and advocates, this movement is about creating global connections.

✅️Although still in its effancy stages, I'm so proud of what we have achieved so far.

✅️My other project is The Zambian Network for Sickle Cell Amplified Voices and Advocacy. This project was an idea given to me by one of my greatest mentors.

✅️Also in It's early years, we have so much work to do to change the sickle cell narratives in Zambia.

✅️Let me now introduce you to my latest project. The Zambians in Australia and New Zealand is an initiative to bring Zambians in these countries share professional and family ideas. We do this by hosting annual conferences.

✅️The proceeds from these conferences will be used to adopt a project in Zambia.

✅️Our first conference will be on 29th April 2023. Come and join us and be part of the 50 people only joining us face-to-face.

Today we introduce our Keynote speakers. Meet Dr Kylie Mason .

Dr Mason one of Australia's Sickle Cell Specialist, Consultant Haematologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre Senior Research Fellow, Sydney Medical School, NHMRC fellow, Clinician Researcher, The University of Melbourne.

Dr Mason will be our first presenter discussing an Overview of Sickle Cell Disease.
