If you’ve never had Rockford Basket Press, and like Shiraz, your life isn’t complete. It needs time in the bottle and this 2013 is sublime. Matching with a Black Onyx steak…cricket on soon…got my dogs by my side, pretty good night.

Doing a bit of work on a rainy Saturday arvo, needed a buddy, so choose an Italian wine from an incredible Producer- Braida. Broccoli de Uccellone. It’s 100% Barbera, will age for 20 years. It’s so complex and layered, with rich fruit intensity and wonderful oak integration. Bolognese on the stove. Life is good.

If you’re not familiar with Barbaresco, this producer is the one to try. Made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, ages gracefully. Think Pinot Noir on steroids with more power, structure and tannins.

Happy World Chardonnay Day!
I’m pretty lucky to be drinking one of Australia’s finest…2014 Mount Mary. Insanely good, still young and fresh, with incredible complexity. Delicious

Some gems from this week’s delivery from one of my favourite distributors Enoteca Sileno. They are some of the best Italian wines made, Renato Ratti is an Icon in Barolo. 2019 Renato Ratti Marcenasco has just landed. 2019 Barolos are perhaps as good as 2016. A must try.
