The AFL finals just got bigger 🏉

From 2026, the AFL has introduced a brand new Wildcard Finals Round — replacing the old pre-finals bye and extending September footy by an extra week.

Here's how it works:
🏆 Top 6 on the ladder go straight through to finals, with a week off to rest up
⚔️ 7th plays 10th, and 8th plays 9th, in sudden-death knockout matches
🎟️ The two winners claim the final spots in the top 8, setting up the finals series as normal from there

It's the biggest shake-up to the finals system since 2000, meaning more clubs stay in the hunt for September, more home finals, and more do-or-die footy drama before the Grand Final. 🔥

Living Well with PL | Turn off the "big lights" 🌙

Overhead lighting mimics the sun. Great during the day, but after sundown it tells your body it's still daytime, delaying that natural wind-down your circadian rhythm relies on.

Once the sun sets try lower, warmer light instead:
✨ Table and floor lamps over overhead lights
✨ Warm-toned bulbs instead of cool white
✨ Candles for that final hour before bed

Small shift, better sleep. Your body will thank you.

Look a little closer and Preston's magic is impossible to miss .

The classic shopfronts, the murals tucked down side streets, the smell of fresh produce spilling out of the market, a dozen languages overlapping on the same block.

Preston's colour comes from its people, generations of stories, cultures and communities layered on top of each other, all sharing the same footpath.

This is the neighbourhood our Emery House residents call home.
