In the expanding conversation around Australian planting design, there is a quiet but vital network of growers shaping what is possible on the ground.

Native Plant Project supplied plants for Super Bloom's demonstration garden Plant Futures at Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show this year. Together, we created a layered planting language grounded in dry summer climate conditions but expansive in feeling 🌿

In the expanding conversation around Australian planting design, there is a quiet but vital network of growers shaping what is possible on the ground. Among them, Native Plant Project stands out for its focused commitment to producing robust, design-ready native species that speak directly to place.

In the quiet industrious world behind abundant gardens, there exists a layer of horticulture that rarely seeks the spotlight. It is here, in probation houses, trial beds and breeding programs that the future of our gardens is patiently composed.

Claire Blackie of Plant Growers Australia (PGA) works within this realm and we interviewed Claire for an in depth guide behind working at the source of Australia's planting world. Find the interview here: https://ow.ly/Fkf050YNjXh

A little glimpse into something we have been quietly growing 🌿

This pilot vertical meadow applied to construction site fencing with Suburban Rail Loop is a living example of experimentation, observation and collaboration in design with Super Bloom's public realm partners.

Testing and refining. From structure to seasonality, every layer is considered. Seed design and custom mixes for this project were crafted by Super Bloom, tailored for resilience, diversity and joy. 🌸

Green infrastructure by Vertical Meadow. With thanks also to Flora Vict together with our seed purveyors for providing the seed for this project.

The Australian climate is known for its extremes, and with those extremes comes great beauty and resonance. The seasonal responsiveness that plants can have with a sudden influx of rain, the survivability of extreme dry and fire. Their adaptive and temporal qualities are a constant reminder that gardens and plantings are ever-changing entities, dynamic through time.
