Culture is the way we do things around here... consistently. When leaders understand that workplace rituals are an effective way to shift and shape culture and change, they can be intentional, creating big shifts through small nudges and consistent practices.

The next Melbourne Masterclass is happening in April and early bird tickets are still available.

Join us for a day of intentional crafting and co-creating.

It’s been an energetic few months with the launch of and a whirlwind tour of Masterclasses across Melbourne, Wellington, and online with brilliant humans joining in from Oman, the UK, Singapore, and all corners of Australia and New Zealand.

We laughed, we connected, we reflected, and we learned a lot. There were lightbulb moments, deep conversations, and plenty of sparks for change.

It’s been a privilege to see how teams and practitioners are bringing rituals to life in their workplaces, turning intention into action and connection into culture.

So far, .roberts have trained over 50 people in the Workplace Rituals Deck, 50 people who are going out creating ripples in workplaces across the world.

We are announcing new dates shortly including Sydney in February, and Auckland and Perth dates to be set soon.

Here’s to what comes next!

Most people say culture is 'what we do around here'.

I’d add one word to complete that sentence: consistently.

Culture is what we do around here, consistently.

Because a one-off gesture is nice. But consistent behaviours are culture.

Consistency sets the tone, provides the guardrails and reinforces the values.

What are the behaviours you’d want your team to be known for?

Change is changing. But for the better.

It’s no longer just about fancy methodologies and Gantt charts. In fact, in this certification training, we won’t be covering change models, communication plans, or stakeholder analysis.

Instead, we’ll focus on the invisible factors that come with change, the things that are often mistaken for resistance or disengagement. The emotions.

Because how people feel often decides whether change sticks or stalls.

This course will certify you to become an Emotional Culture Deck practitioner in the Change pathways, which means you get a kit and the tools to take emotional change strategy into your workplace or to your clients.

The lowdown:
📅 17th September 2025
📌 Melbourne CBD location
🕥 9.30am leisurely start, 4.30pm finish
🥗 Lunch included, and of course there will snacks-lots of snacks!
☕️ Barista coffee all day
🧰 Physical ECD kit including decks, tools and certification badge
🔧 Digital toolkit with ALL the tools + some extras

I have just 4 tickets left for this course and it will be my last public certification in the Emotional Culture Deck this year. Jump into the comments for the link, or reach out if you want to chat about your place.

(We'll also be having a play with the Workplace Rituals Deck as part of the arcade Rituals Crafting process! You'll be among the first in the world to see it!)

Behavioural economics tell us that emotion drives behaviour, so at Assembly Culture, we go beyond the traditional culture levers of values and behaviours to the emotions that your people are experiencing in the organisation, exploring how emotions and emotional signals impact how teams and organisations 'assemble' to achieve organisational outcomes.

This is Emotional Culture.

If you ever peeked into the life of a product founder, you’d quickly see - we get very excited about the tiniest wins.

This week, Lotty Roberts and I hit a big milestone: we pressed GO on the test decks for our Workplace Rituals Deck! 🎉

And while finalising design, brand assets, and even setting up a joint bank account have all been huge steps - today, we celebrated something small (but mighty): creating a new inbox and email address. Yep. Told you - we get excited about the small stuff. 💌

But actually… it’s not just the small stuff.

It’s the series of small things that build momentum.

Designing, planning, making decisions about our audience - that was the fun part. The admin? Let’s just say it tested our focus.

Lotty and I are known for getting things done, but we also get joyfully distracted by the shiny stuff. We've even coined our own term for it: Squirrel Disco - because, well, we’re squirrels who love shiny things. 🐿 🪩

A little shoutout to our amazing support team Rebecca Smith and Marika Leigh, this thing is happening, one squirrel step at a time.

Most change strategies start with a plan.
The smart ones start with a feeling.

Before the timeline, the deck, or the town hall, ask this:

👉 How do we want people to feel during this change?

Safe? Involved? Hopeful? Fired up?

That one question shifts the entire approach - because people don’t resist change, they resist the feeling of being unheard, left behind, or overwhelmed. The discomfort of emotions.

Start with emotion, and you won’t just change systems.

You’ll change hearts, minds — and eventually, outcomes.

Need to upskill your people with a better approach to change? Head along to the ECD Emotional Change Strategy Course on July 30th. Link in bio.

You can have the perfect change plan…
But if people are feeling anxious, resistant, or disconnected — it won’t land.

Change is lived emotionally before it’s executed practically.

This course gives you the tools and strategies to do change better, with heart.

That's right, you can catch emotions quicker than the common cold, in just 8 minutes in fact, according to a study from the University of Sydney.

Jump over to Assembly Culture for a free resource for your workplace on emotional contagion, because like it or not, the contagion going around in your workplace will set the tone for your culture.
