In the glossy, curated world of business, where every post and every update seems polished to perfection, it's very easy to hit a wall. Not a wall of creativity or inspiration but one of authenticity.
I personally have found myself hesitating, overthinking, and ultimately, struggling to post. Why? Because I've been too caught up in thinking about what I should post, what's "on brand," instead of what's behind the brand: the real, not-so-professional me. 🙃
Here's the thing, I am a transparent person by nature. Fake relationships, surface-level engagements, and insincerity? I just can't do it. They feel wrong in every fibre of my being. That's why platforms like LinkedIn are a real challenge for me. It often feels like a highlight reel, where everyone is too busy showcasing their successes, hiding their struggles, and never really connecting.
But what about real life? The failures, the setbacks, the moments where things didn't go as planned? Those are the stories that resonate, the ones that build bridges between us.
They remind us that behind every brand, every polished post, there's a human being facing the same battles, asking the same questions, and seeking the same connections. I believe the way to make real connections in business is by showing your true self, vulnerabilities and all. It's about being brave enough to step out from behind the logo and let the world see you for who you really are. Because at the end of the day, people connect with people, not brands.
To those who feel the pressure to maintain a flawless facade, remember this, authenticity is magnetic. It's okay to show the world that you're human. In fact, it's more than okay, it's necessary.
Our stories, our struggles, and our triumphs are what bind us. Let's embrace them.
