Rabia Shahid's
The pillars of her leadership model is on building relationships and trust as the core culture. Rabia's leadership style has shifted to a more affiliative and coaching. She believes relationships play a pivotal in the face of power and politics. In her view, trust is built on relationships. With trust and healthy peer relationship in the team, a leader would be able to foster a honeybee culture that gives freedom and empowerment to teams, in which they would be able to freely share knowledge and leverage against each other’s strengths. Not only that, a leader also benefits from it to overcome their own weaknesses to develop high performing teams. Collaborative decision making should be encouraged to make sure each team member's needs are met.
Under Ms. Shahid's leadership model, teams would develop self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy and social skills. In such a culture it contrasts sharply with the mundane, practical, and yet important conception that leadership is really managing work that other people do. However she does not want to see business stagnating therefore believes in developing people for succession planning with an essence of affiliative and coaching style. Cherishing and valuing relationships to build trust where every team member could challenge each other with no fear of conflict and accountable for achievements as a team; in readiness to take a leap!
