The ability for people to live, age and remain in the communities they know and love โ surrounded by familiarity, connection and dignity.
Over the last couple of weeks, the Aberlea Board and Executive came together for a 2-day Strategy Workshop in Melbourne to think deeply about the future โ not just for Aberlea, but for the broader region we are part of.
What became clear is that aged care in regional communities cannot be thought about in isolation.
Itโs not just about one organisation, one town, or one service. Itโs about ensuring that communities like Mortlake โ and those around it โ remain viable, connected and supported into the long term.
Because when services disappear, people are forced to leave. And when people leave, communities weaken.
Our focus is not just on providing care. Itโs on building a model that ensures:
๐ people can stay local
๐ services remain strong and relevant, and
๐ future generations continue to benefit from sustainable, thriving communities
This requires thinking differently. It requires collaboration across the region. And it requires a willingness to look beyond organisational boundaries and think as one.
Aberlea is ready for that future.
And we hope others in the region are ready to think the same way.
