We’re so proud that Dr Elaine Pratley has been recognised as a Wiki Impact 100 Changemaker for 2025 for her peace advocacy across the Asia-Pacific.

It’s a moment to celebrate. But also a reminder of how much work remains. The last month has been heavy for many Australians, and the challenges we face are complex. As peacebuilders, we know we can’t foster peace alone.

If you or your organisation are curious about navigating conflict and complexity, or exploring what peace looks like in practice in your field, let’s connect and explore practical ways forward together.

Positive change is possible, but we need each other to make it endure.

So affirming to see research endorsing the value of our flagship initiative, Peace Kitchen: using food to foster wellbeing and strengthen collaboration across differences.

At Peace Inc., we help workplaces co-design cultures of peace and build practices that foster meaningful connection, trust, and collaboration — often beginning with a taste of connection!

The World Happiness Report is published by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford, in partnership with Gallup, the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network and an independent editorial board.

New publication! Check out Dr Elaine Pratley’s new article in the Statelessness and Citizenship Review: "Food Methods in Statelessness Research: An Embodied Approach to Understanding Lived Experience."

Elaine explores how food can be more than just nourishment — it can be a method for understanding the lived experiences of stateless people. From food insecurity to questions of identity, belonging, and connection, food opens up space for conversations that traditional surveys or interviews might miss.

It’s an innovative and deeply human approach, rooted in Elaine’s research with young migrants and former refugees in Australia, and it shows how food can help us listen differently, connect more deeply, and rethink how we do research.

Hot off the press AND a proud milestone for Peace Inc.! 🎉🎉🎉

We’re delighted to share that Raymond Hyma, together with Dr Elaine Pratley, has published a new article in Globalizations:

"Dining in the dialogical, listening through the relational: ‘withness-thinking’ for development scholarship and praxis."

This work is a celebration of moving global development beyond abstract theories and toward approaches rooted in human connection, dialogue, and deep listening. By bringing people together through food and creating spaces where listening transforms into shared inquiry, Raymond and Elaine show how centering relationships can spark transformative and sustainable change.

✨ A huge congratulations to Raymond and Elaine on this achievement!

Gong xi fa Cai to all those celebrating the Lunar New Year!

The next two weeks of celebrating is often marked by feasting with family, friends, and strangers. In this article, Dr Elaine Pratley reflects on how events like Chinese New Year are important acts of social cohesion and connection across conflict and differences.

Eating together is not just fun - it can be significant steps towards for peace!

Lunar New Year brings people together, but it’s the food that connects them, says University of Melbourne expert

Japan's Nihon Hidankyo wins the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize! Atomic bomb survivors (hibakusha) in this organisation and others are inspiring advocates of non-violence.

In 2020, Rotary Peace Fellows (many of whom form part of Peace Inc.) based in Asia-Oceania invited hibakushas from the Nagasaki National Peace Memorial Hall to bear witness to the aftermath of the atomic bomb. The survivors were in their late 80s+ and some even tried to learn English to promote their message better globally.

Hibakusha are desperate for today's generation to realise that war is inexplicably costly. Please share their message widely.

Read our article on Food waste and peace, published in Rotary Down Under. As Dr. Pratley writes, we don't have a food shortage problem. There is more than enough food to feed the world. Rather, we have a food waste problem where waste makes financial sense.

By Dr Elaine PratleyRotary Peace Fellow Positive Peace Activator, Founder of Peace Inc. and Peace Kitchen Despite 793 million undernourished people around the globe, one-third of all food produced for human consumption is wasted. Every year, Australian farmers discard millions of tonnes of edible fr...

Peace Kitchen is making [radio] waves of impact!!

At Peace Inc., we love food + we LOVE working towards a world where all may flourish!

This is why we facilitate meaningful conversations about gritty topics over food. More than just a foodie event, Peace Kitchen's unique value proposition is its expertise in peacebuilding (and specifically FOOD peacebuilding at that!) Peace Kitchen is about creating warm spaces where people connect deeply.

Peace Kitchen founder Dr Elaine Pratley believes sharing food together can lead to better and stronger relationships.
