We were back at Ilim College last week to help the senior leaders develop their public speaking skills. We talked about the importance of connecting with the audience and how being present is more important than being polished. Here is some feedback from the students:
"My biggest lightbulb moment was realising that effective public speaking isn’t about having extreme confidence, if your content is strong and meaningful, your message can speak for itself."
"I enjoyed not only building the confidence necessary for public speaking but also learning the practical skills needed to deliver an effective and engaging speech."
"Rachel's ability to communicate and relate to us really encouraged me to try and lifted my mood. Her character is amazing and made me feel comfortable sharing my thoughts. I hope she reaches, helps and inspires more students to achieve their best!"
"The host was super nice and welcoming, I really appreciate it a lot! It was such a warm and comfortable space thanks to her so I'm very grateful"
"Ms Rachel was a fantastic guide/presenter. Her smile gave me more confidence and motivated me to participate in the activity to my maximum limit. Yellow arrow really taught me to have more confidence in myself and that my speech needs to engage my audience. It taught me how my speech just needs to have a voice that protects/guides it, which allows the point I’m making get across."
"Rachel was absolutely fantastic, so personable and really made us feel free to experiment with different communication forms and techniques."
