Dr Olivia Lee Ong -The Heart-Centered Doctor

Dr Olivia Lee Ong -The Heart-Centered Doctor Dr Olivia Ong, aka The Heart Centred Doctor, helps transform doctors’ lives from burnout to balance Today she shares her experience with others.

Dr Olivia Ong, known as the Heart-Centred Doctor, is a pain physician with 15 years of clinical experience and an expert in resilience and burnout. After a severe car accident in 2008 left her a paraplegic, Dr Ong was told she would never walk or practice medicine again. Dr Ong found out exactly what it’s like on the other side of the healthcare system. She spent years as a patient in hospitals an

d rehab facilities in Australia and US in an attempt to regain some of the capabilities that were torn away from her. Little did she know she was going to get a whole lot more than she’d bargained for. After an intensive three-year recovery process, she walked again. Among other things, coming out the other side of such dark period in her life inspired Dr Ong to start a business to address the unspoken toll that doctors bear when they don’t find the support they need. As a high-performance leadership coach and mentor for doctors over the past two years, she runs programs helping doctors transform their lives, moving from burnout to balance. Being able to speak from her own unique life experiences gives her presentations a deeply authentic feel, and her warm approach has made her a sought-after speaker and online educator. She is the author of The Heart-Centred Doctor, which features a foreword from one of her mentors Jack Canfield, co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series and The Success Principles: How to Get from Where You Are to Where You Want to Be. Dr Ong has been privately trained by personal development role models such as Jack Canfield, Vishen Lakhiani, founder of Mindvalley, Ajit Nawalkha, founder of Evercoach in Mindvalley, Benjamin Harvey and Cham Tang, founders of Authentic Education, Mike Kim, author of You Are the Brand and Rich Litvin, co-author of The Prosperous Coach. Her vision is for her company “The Heart-Centred Method Institute Pty Ltd” to be the leading global personal growth and professional development company for physicians and clinicians in healthcare so that they can be well rounded, heart-centred healthcare workers. Dr Ong has been featured in and written for Thrive Global, Yahoo Finance, International Business Times Singapore and Australian Business Journal. Dr Ong has regular appeared in media such as Sky News, Studio 10 and Ticker TV, as well as speaking at industry leading events including Australasian New Zealand College of Anaesthesia and Faculty of Pain Medicine, where she talks about physician burnout and how mindfulness and self-compassion can transform chronic pain. Originally from Singapore, Dr Ong now resides in Melbourne with her husband and two young children. Her forthcoming book Radical Resilience is due to be released in early 2024. Yesterday’s WordFest 2026 event at Monash Libraries’ Clayton Library was an absolute highlight! 🌟📖

I had the privilege of speaking to a wonderful audience and sharing stories, experiences, and insights from my writing journey. The energy in the room, the thoughtful discussions, and the warm welcome made it an experience I’ll cherish for a long time.

A heartfelt thank you to Monash Libraries and everyone who joined us.

4️⃣ reasons you should NOT come to WordFest tonight 👇

👉 You have already mastered the art of speaking to yourself with the same kindness you give everyone else.
👉 You have no interest in what it feels like to go from being the most qualified person in the room to the most helpless one overnight.
👉 You already know all the things recovery teaches you about compassion, identity, empathy, and burnout.
👉 You do not need a free Wednesday night out in Clayton with a room full of people talking about something very real.

Still here? Good 🥹

I am in conversation at WordFest tonight, 7pm at Clayton Community Centre, talking about my story and Back On My Feet. It is free, it is one night only, and I promise the conversation will be worth the drive. Link in bio to book your spot.

“The atmosphere was so supportive and powerful.” 🤝❤️

Incredible feedback from the Women in Business event! When women gather to support, lift, and learn from one another, magic happens. Dr. Olivia Ong's keynote was the perfect catalyst for some truly deep connections in the room.

My journey from a hospital bed to... deadlifting?

Prior to my injury, I had never deadlifted before. But sometimes the thing that takes everything from you is also the thing that shows you what you were made of. This is what I mean 👉

I’m excited to be joining Monash Public Library Service WordFest for a special conversation about Back On My Feet.

When I wrote this book, my hope was that it would spark honest conversations about resilience, recovery, self-compassion, and what happens when life takes an unexpected turn.

As a doctor who became a patient, I learned that healing is rarely a straight line. It is often messy, challenging, and deeply human. These are some of the themes I look forward to exploring during this event.

If you've read the book, are curious about the story behind it, or would simply like to join the conversation, I would love to see you there.
