Sophia's story

Gabriella & Lee are loving parents to two beautiful children. Luca who is 2 years old and Sophia who is 5 months old.

On Wednesday the 4th May 2022, Gabriella & Lee got the news that no parents should ever have to hear. Their darling little Sophia was diagnosed with ATRT and this is where their lives began to take a terrible turn.

ATRT also known as
Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumors are very rare and aggressive tumors of the central nervous system. Occurring mostly in the cerebellum (the part of the brain that controls movement and balance) or the brain stem (the part of the brain that controls basic body functions).

Sophia at only 5 months old has already undergone surgery to drain fluid from her brain and an 8 hour surgery to remove the tumour.

Sophia's tiny body now needs to undergo at least 6 round of Chemotherapy.

Gabriella has had to move into the RCH with her daughter to support and care for her as she undergoes treatment.

While Lee has had to stop work to provide full time care for their 2 year old Luca.

As you can all imagine, both parents are under tremendous amounts of stress.

In a time like this they need to remain strong for their children but that is almost impossible with having to worry about all the financial pressure.

It would great to have as many people as possible turn up to the Family Fete Day to show support for the family. Details in flyer.
