Somewhere between Pinterest dreams and site reality… there’s us. 🤝

Interior design sounds glamorous until you realise most of the job is
- fixing circulation
- moving walls
- hiding awkward bulkheads
- reworking kitchens that looked good online but function terribly in real life and….
- gently explaining why the 17 metre island probably isn’t going to fit. 😅

Good design isn’t just about pretty things.

It’s about solving problems before they become very expensive ones.

That’s the part nobody puts on Instagram.

The greatest gift my boys ever gave me was making me Mum 🤍

Motherhood changed me in every possible way. In the chaos, the exhaustion, the laughter, the cuddles, the school runs, the sticky hands, and the quiet moments I didn’t know would become the memories I treasure most.

Lately I keep thinking about the poem “The Last Time” and how true it is… one day there will be a last bedtime story, a last little hand reaching for mine, a last cuddle before sleep and we won’t even realise it while it’s happening.

So I’m trying to soak it all in.The loud days. The ordinary days. The exhausting, beautiful, fleeting days.Because one day I’ll wish for just one more of them.

This Mother’s Day, I’m feeling especially grateful for these boys who made me a mum and for every season of motherhood: even the messy ones 🤍

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mums, step mums, grandmas, mother figures, and those longing to be mums too. Today is for you 🌸

Mt Eliza is taking shape.

Walls, floors, ceilings, wrapped entirely in timber to create a space that feels calm, warm and deeply grounding.

There’s something about timber that changes the way a home feels. It softens the light, quietens the noise and brings a sense of stillness you notice the moment you walk in.

Less about trends. More about atmosphere.
A home designed to be felt as much as seen.

Do you love this as much as we do?

DESIGNERS ARE OFFICIALLY OUT OF A JOB.Just kidding!!!!

AI is powerful and we certainly use it.
But it’s only as good as the person behind it.

Because no algorithm can replace intuition, experience, and a trained eye.

AI can generate a space.A designer makes it right.

Aird Street is all about where stone does the talking.

Montallini by CDK isn’t just a surface here, it’s the hero.

Carried through as a monolithic language, from the sculpted basin to the hearth and joinery, every cut is deliberate, every vein perfectly placed.

The basin?

Carved, not assembled. Seamless. Exact. Unapologetically bold.

Then softened with a curved wall that gently wraps the space, metal grilles introducing precision and rhythm, layering texture without noise.

It’s the balance we chase every time: strength + softness. structure + soul.

This is what happens when materials are allowed to lead.

Great outcome for our client.

Come with me while I take you around this recently completed modest renovation in Elsternwick where I talk about my favourite space aka the kitchen, mixing metals and two toned joinery!!

Do you vibe this house too??

Bathrooms that sing aren’t about bigger budgets, they’re about smarter ones.

It’s knowing where to pull back and where to splash out.

In this Elsternwick project, we lean into textured, tonal tiles to do the heavy lifting, bringing depth, warmth and movement without the price tag. Then we contrast that with a moment of indulgence: a stone vanity, a slab detail, something that anchors the room and elevates everything around it.

It’s a balance we refine often at R&Co, especially working alongside developers, creating spaces that feel considered, elevated and built to last, while staying commercially grounded.

Less everywhere. More where it matters.

Friday mood… but make it timber.

Colour, grain, a little bit of fun because joinery shouldn’t always play it safe.

Which one are you picking? 👀

High gloss is back and this time, it’s intentional.

For a while, it got a bad rap… too shiny, too dated, too “project home.”

But like anything in design, it was never the material, it was how it was used.

Now? We’re seeing it re-emerge in a much more refined, considered way.
Softened edges. Tonal palettes. Layered against rich, textural materials.

Here, the gloss isn’t loud - it is very controlled.

It catches the light, reflects warmth, and gives the joinery a sense of depth you just can’t achieve with flat finishes.
Paired with that deep, veined stone and those earthy burgundy; it feels elevated, a little nostalgic, and completely current.

Proof that high gloss, when done well, isn’t outdated, it’s quietly luxurious.

Would you go high gloss again… or are you still loyal to matte?
