Major State Nomination Updates for 2025–26: What Skilled Migration Applicants Need to Know 🇦🇺
If you're planning your Australian skilled migration journey, several states and territories have recently announced significant updates that could impact your pathway to permanent residency.
Here's a quick overview:
📍 Victoria
The 2025–26 Registration of Interest (ROI) program has now closed, meaning no new ROIs are being accepted for this program year.
📍 New South Wales (NSW)
NSW has fully allocated its Subclass 190 nomination places for the current program year. Due to strong demand, Subclass 491 Pathway 1 and Pathway 3 have also closed. However, invitations under Subclass 491 Pathway 2 are still being issued while places remain available.
📍 South Australia (SA)
Good news for prospective applicants—South Australia is continuing to conduct Subclass 190 and Subclass 491 invitation rounds, with further invitations expected in the coming months.
📍 Northern Territory (NT)
The NT nomination portal has closed after reaching its General Skilled Migration (GSM) allocation. Applications lodged before the closure will continue to be processed and assessed.
⚠️ These updates highlight how quickly state nomination programs can change. If you're considering applying for a skilled visa, now is the time to review your eligibility, points score, occupation demand, and available state pathways.
