🚨 NDIS CLAIMING UPDATE | Extra checks start tomorrow β€” 15 October 2026

The NDIA will carry out additional integrity checks on claims submitted MORE THAN 90 DAYS after the support was delivered.

⏳ Claims older than 90 days may be held for up to 28 days while checks take place.
πŸ“‹ The NDIA may request supporting information or evidence before payment.
βœ… Claims submitted within 90 days continue through the usual claiming process.

WHAT PROVIDERS AND PLAN MANAGERS SHOULD DO:
βœ” Review overdue invoices and outstanding claims.
βœ” Submit valid claims promptly after support delivery.
βœ” Keep service agreements, attendance and delivery records accurate and accessible.
βœ” Follow up any NDIA evidence requests without delay.

⚠️ This is an additional-checks change, NOT an automatic rejection of claims older than 90 days. A separate 90-day claiming timeframe is due from 1 December 2026, subject to exceptional-circumstances provisions.

πŸ“’ MEDICARE UPDATE | Important MBS changes from 1 November 2026

Two confirmed Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) updates are approaching:

πŸ‘§ MEDICARE HEALTHY KIDS CHECK
A health assessment for children aged 3 will be introduced under existing time-tiered MBS health assessment items (701–707 and 224–227). The aim is to identify developmental concerns early and help families access advice, referrals and support.

πŸ“ž FOUR NEW TELEPHONE CHRONIC CONDITION MANAGEMENT ITEMS
Eligible GPs and prescribed medical practitioners will be able to prepare or review chronic condition management (CCM) plans by telephone using new items 92033, 92034, 92063 and 92064.

βœ… WHAT PROVIDERS SHOULD DO
Review MBS eligibility and claiming requirements, update practice billing references and brief reception and administration teams before 1 November. These are GP/medical practitioner items, not new standalone allied health therapy rebates.

🚨 URGENT NDIS PROVIDER UPDATE | Commission portal outage

The NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission has advised that its Registered Providers Portal and Applications Portal will be unavailable from 8:00 pm Friday 9 October until 10:00 pm Sunday 11 October 2026 (AEDT).

Other Commission portals have a separate outage scheduled for Sunday 11 October, 7:00–10:00 am AEDT.

The new NDIS Commission Portal launches Monday 12 October.

⚠️ Behaviour support providers: draft Behaviour Support Plans remaining in the existing portal at transition may be removed and cannot be recovered. Complete and submit any drafts you need to retain before the outage where possible.

βœ… Check outstanding portal tasks and prepare to review staff access after go-live. If a reportable incident occurs while the portal is unavailable, retain the evidence and lodge it as soon as the portal is accessible, following the Commission's incident guidance.

πŸ“’ NDIS PRICING & BUDGET UPDATE

The NDIA has opened consultation for the 2027–28 Annual Pricing Review, while changes to some NDIS support budgets are also beginning.

From 1 October 2026, some budgets in Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills may be reduced when plans are reassessed. Not all supports in these categories are affected.

The 2027–28 pricing consultation is now open and closes on 1 November 2026. Feedback can be provided through an online survey, email or video submission, including Auslan.

An updated NDIS pricing schedule has also been released.

OnSolve supports NDIS providers with administration, compliance, billing and operational systems.

🚨 NDIS UPDATE: Updated Supported Independent Living (SIL) Guideline

The NDIA updated its Supported Independent Living operational guideline on 1 October 2026, providing clearer guidance for participants and providers.

Key points for SIL providers:
β€’ clearer guidance on what is and isn’t SIL
β€’ criteria for 24-hour individual support
β€’ mandatory registration requirements
β€’ relevant registration group: 0138 – Assistance with Supported Independent Living
β€’ new SIL Practice Standards and audit expectations

Providers should review their registration status, service model, documentation and audit readiness to ensure they remain aligned with current requirements.

🚨 NDIS UPDATE: Thriving Kids + important changes to claiming timeframes

Thriving Kids begins rolling out from October 2026 for children aged 8 and under with developmental delay and/or autism with low to moderate support needs. There is no action required now, and changes to NDIS access are not expected to begin until 2028.

Claiming rules are also tightening:
β€’ From 15 October 2026, extra checks apply to claims submitted 90 days or more after a support is delivered.
β€’ From 1 December 2026, claims generally must be submitted within 90 days unless exceptional circumstances apply.

Timely invoicing, claiming and accurate records will be increasingly important.

NDIS Commission update for registered providers.

The new NDIS Commission Portal launches on 12 October 2026. During the transition, providers will use both the new and existing portals depending on the task and when work began.

The Commission also issued a Provider Alert on 30 September confirming that the NDIS Code of Conduct applies online as well as face-to-face.
