Humans of UPPAREL. Ep. 1. Jennifer.

One less piece of clothing in landfill. That’s how Jennifer measures a good day.

She joined as a store person, became the first female forklift driver at UPPAREL, and now runs operations as coordinator, keeping the warehouse, the sorting floor, and the office team connected every single day. Every item she processes, every report she runs, every sorting session she organises with volunteers - it all adds up to the same thing.

When corporate volunteers come in and give their time, Jennifer says that’s when it clicks. This isn’t just a business, it's a movement people want to be part of.

Used un**es aren't a donation.
Your old jeans, though? Absolutely!

We get asked every day what you can actually drop off. So we asked the people on the floor - the ones sorting through it all, every single day.

Here's the quick list:
Shoes. YES.
Denim and cotton. YES.
High viz and workwear. YES.
Used socks. YES.

Plush toys. NO.
Used underwear. NO.
Wired bras. NO.
Unwashed items. NO.

Every piece of textile that lands here gets diverted from landfill. But we can only work with what's actually usable.

Want textile recycling days in your local area? Your council needs to hear from you.
UPPAREL already makes textile recycling accessible through door-to-door pickups and Australia Post drop-off options — but council-led recycling days can take that impact even further.
They make it easier for entire communities to come together, recycle responsibly and keep textiles out of landfill.
We’ve created a ready-made email template you can send directly to your local council’s waste or sustainability team.
Follow link, copy the template and ask your council to organise a textile recycling day.
Tag your council below if you’d love to see this in your area.

Millions of kilograms of workwear end up in landfill every year.

Not because there's no solution, but because no one wanted to build one. We at UPPAREL did.

We didn't just find a way to recycle textiles. We created a material made entirely from what companies used to throw away. Traceable. Transparent. Proven at scale.

H&M. Cotton On. BMW. Bunnings. They're not here because it sounds good. They're here because it works.

If your organisation generates textile waste, you already have a problem. The question is whether you're ready to solve it.

April was massive. 🌏
Together, we diverted over 1,300,000 kgs of textiles from landfill in a single month. That’s 1.3 million reasons to keep going.
Every garment collected, sorted, repurposed and recycled is a win against textile waste and none of it happens without you. To our partners, customers and community: this is your impact too.
Here’s to making May even bigger. 💪

Most brands ask one question when it comes to sustainability: where does it go?

UPPAREL's answer isn't a landfill diversion stat. It's a traceable, end-to-end system - three recycling pathways, full site transparency, and a proprietary material called UPtex that turns your old textiles into acoustic panels, insulation, and furniture fill. Made in Australia.

This is how we work with partners. No greenwashing. No vague commitments. Just a real solution built around your business.

If you want to see it for yourself - reach out. We'd love to show you the facility.

Every 6 minutes, 10,000kg of textiles are sent to landfill in Australia.

That's the world we're handing to the next generation.

We opened our doors to over 100 Year 10 students from Woodleigh School - walking them through our facility, showing them what mechanical textile recycling actually looks like, and putting the problem and the solution in the same room.

Because the next generation inheriting this problem deserves to see that someone's already working on it.

20,000 kilos of textiles diverted from landfill.

That's what it looks like when a brand doesn't just talk about sustainability - it builds it into the business, measures it, and holds itself accountable to it.

Decjuba was the first retailer to launch with UPPAREL. Now they're B Corp certified. That's not a coincidence.

We visited their HQ to sit down with Soleil and the team - to hear what full product end-of-life visibility actually means, and why their customers are paying attention.

This is what doing it properly looks like.

Your old clothes don't belong in landfill. And now, you don't have to go out of your way to do something about it.

We've partnered with Chadstone.AU to make textile recycling as easy as a shopping trip.

Ground floor. Opposite Lululemon. Open the hatch. That's it.
