Tathra Street - Leadership Futurist Reimagining leadership as a shared practice for people shaping the future. Consulting, facilitation and collaboration.

(Formerly Audacious Leadership) Tathra Street has been working with groups for two decades and has been a professional coach for 5 years. She believes that humans are capable of far more than we believe. Her work with groups and individuals aims to empower and enable us to use more of our intelligences, not just our mental/cerebral capacity but to recognise the power of emotional intelligence and

value other ways of knowing such as our intuition (gut knowing), somatic intelligence (body awareness) and the vast array that we know what we know. Where groups in business or community groups are struggling to achieve their objectives Tathra facilitates the the collective intelligence of the group, helping to answer the question, what do we know together that we don't on our own. As a coach she helps people tap into their own inner wisdom and provides supportive tools and techniques to help people experience their own greatness and be more able to contribute powerfully to the collective intelligence of our evolving human nature. Relax School is part of the bigger vision in that it supports people to move from being easily distracted, stressed and anxious to centred, focused and present. The more we build these Chill Skillz, the more able to connect to our inner wisdom we are and subsequently more able to generate change for a better future on Earth.

There's a furphy floating around, perhaps you've heard the tall tale of the AI Apocalypse. It's bu****it, it's time to face the real issue here. Leadership Maturity. AI is just one example of how we make decisions in a way that shirks responsibility, focuses on short-term economic gain and hopes for long-term social gain, it's magical thinking, wise up!

Is it the End of Jobs or a test of our Leadership Maturity?

I call bu****it on the fear mongering, it's time to face the facts, not fall for the furphy.

I call bu****it on the fear mongering, it's time to face the facts, not fall for the furphy.

The real issue is leadership maturity. There’s a story doing the rounds that AI is about to wipe out human work.

Futurist inspo from Rebecca Solnit: “optimism, pessimism – and we can add climate doomerism and cynicism – all assume we know the future, and therefore nothing is required from us. I think the future is radically uncertain, and therefore much is required of us.

It’s easy to focus on authoritarians and their petty victories. But zoom out and the picture is more encouraging, says the woman who popularised the term ‘mansplaining’, whether it’s in feminism, or the environment, or civil rights

The Future of Arts, Culture and Technology symposium is an apt place for this leadership futurist! Back for my second year here. Wonderfully mind expanding presentations and lots of learning that is informing how I think about my work and the world we live in.

What happens when the model no longer fits? The world has changed, have our organisations?

Over the last little while, I’ve been paying attention to stories about long-standing service clubs winding down. They’re often framed as a lack of volunteers or changing attitudes to commitment.

I see something else.

These organisations aren’t failing because people stopped caring. It's an example of what happens when structures built for another time struggle to keep up with how people now live, work, and participate.

That pattern doesn’t stop with volunteering.

It shows up in workplaces experiencing disengagement, on boards facing succession challenges, and in community organisations that rely heavily on a few committed people.

The world has changed. Many organisational models haven’t caught up yet.

I’ve written a piece exploring this as a signal, not a judgment, and why decline isn’t inevitable when we bring foresight, power awareness, and participatory design into leadership.

You can read it here 👉 https://open.substack.com/pub/tathra/p/when-the-model-no-longer-fits?

I’d love to know what you’re noticing in your corner of the world.

The world has changed. Have our organisations?

“…boundary-led leadership is not a wellness trend, but as a hard skill. A strategic capability. A new operating system for women who are done being depleted.”

Women are waking up to a new truth: We don’t have a burnout problem. We have a boundaries epidemic, writes Friska Wirya.

I had an experience at the launch of the "Rainbow Mob is My Mob" that was completely unexpected. I went to the best practice model for Rainbow Mobe Inclusion in ACCOs with the simple intention to show up and support. I'm still processing the experience, but if you're interested, I've written a raw piece on substack including links to all the things, reports, orgs, art... in short my q***r spirit came alive from a hug that has stayed with me. Peter Walples-Crowe is an absolute legend.

My cheeks are sore from laughing so much! What a fun event! This was the project of the Filipino Leadership Program, where the participants put their learning into practice. As someone who doesn’t celebrate Christmas, I really felt the spirit of the holiday with the joy of the Filipino culture. Well done team! So proud of you all!

So proud of my community leadership program graduates! I ran both the Environmental Leadership and Filipino Community Leadership programs with Brimbank Council this year. Tonight they collected their certificates and celebrated their achievements. What an honour to be part of their journey!
