Mars conjunct Pluto, April 24 - 28th: The Shadow Side of Self Stirs ~ be aware that the darker side of self emerges this week. The raging child may be awakening carrying themes of injustice, frustration and uncomfortable emotions. We all hold qualities that feel nefarious, needy, and demanding, and this is a passage when those less then attractive sides of self are rumbling. We are also working through the final Mercury Saturn square (3 in total) that supply you with more insight regarding limiting situations, feelings, the past, family and societal imprints, fear driven thoughts and negativity.

Yet, Mars is also connecting with Jupiter in sextile aspect providing opportunities for shifts, awareness, self-knowledge and insight. Tend to yourself and let your ethics be a touchstone providing a healthy and loving "container" for the harshness. As we know, attacking and demanding that needs be met from others puts you at risk, "every action carries a reaction." A potent time to love thyself and engage in some personal parenting and self-care.

You and only you will decide ~ Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
http://justdharma.com/s/kh4mo

We must keep in mind that the goal is not just understanding simplicity. Far from it. A good guru will mock a yogi who displays even the most advanced comprehension. A yogi should not be satisfied with mere understanding; a yogi must aspire to experience the truth. But a brave guru will even disregard the yogi’s prized experience. The most sublime yogi will not settle until he actualizes the truth. How is actualizing different from understanding and experiencing? To know the answer, you need a guide, a guru. At the end of the day, you and only you will decide which particular being can guide you, who can enlighten you, who can tame your emotions, who can lessen your selfishness, who can encourage your enlightened qualities to grow. So your decision-making faculties need to be clear and sharp.

In our life when we have problems, our first tendency is to blame somebody else. "Why am I unhappy? My mother, father, sister, brother, boss, professor, dog, boyfriend, girlfriend, cat, the government, whoever... somebody else did something and made me unhappy. So I'm the victim of other people's malevolent intentions and that's why I suffer." This is our usual view. Part of our usual view is—"Since I'm the victim of what other people do, the way for me to find happiness is by changing other people." This is one thing that we have to really cultivate some doubt about and see that the real source lies in ourself and so the remedy also lies in ourself.

How to make the mind positive ~ Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
http://justdharma.com/s/h4y03

When the mind is positive, body and speech, the servants of the mind, will of course be positive also. But how are we to make the mind positive? At the moment, we cling to the notion that our minds are real entities. When someone helps us, we think, ‘That person has been so good to me. I must be kind to him in return and make him my friend for lives and lives to come.’ This only goes to show that we do not know about the empty nature of the mind. As for our enemies, we think of how to harm them as much as possible… We think like that simply because we think our anger is a true and permanent reality – while in fact it is nothing at all. We should therefore rest in the empty nature of the mind beyond all mental elaborations, in that state which is free from clinging, a clarity beyond concepts.

If you are able to generate bodhicitta, it will be the cause of every happiness for yourself and others, and all the suffering you encounter in your daily life will be dispelled.

Whether we and our fellow beings experience happiness or suffering, whether we have peace or violence in the world, depends entirely on the condition of our minds. The mind is what determines whether there will be happiness or suffering; our states of mind are what makes our actions negative or positive.

Therefore, may those who have not already generated this excellent and precious noble mind work very hard to develop it. May those who have already generated bodhicitta try their best not to impair it, working hard to increase love and compassion so that it continues to grow.

Appreciating the whole cycle of impermanence ~ Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche
http://justdharma.com/s/98qc2

We usually appreciate only half of the cycle of impermanence. We can accept birth but not death, accept gain but not loss, or the end of exams but not the beginning. True liberation comes from appreciating the whole cycle and not grasping onto those things that we find agreeable. By remembering the changeability and impermanence of causes and conditions, both positive and negative, we can use them to our advantage. Wealth, health, peace, and fame are just as temporary as their opposites.

If deep down you continue to believe a tiny corner of samsara could be useful, or that it might even offer the ultimate solution to all your worldly problems, it will be extremely difficult to become a genuine spiritual seeker.

When a man is parched by thirst,
The thought of water brings no relief.
Only drinking can quench his thirst.
Similarly, information differs from direct experience.

The exhausting search for information,
For mere objective knowledge,
Becomes needless with direct meditative experience.
