Immigration update: Yesterday, Australian Government established The Home Affairs Portfolio (formed by former DIBP) including the Department of Home affairs. This Establishment of Portfolio brings together Australia’s Federal law enforcement, national and transport security, criminal justice, Emergency management and multi cultural affairs and Border- Immigration related functions. The newly build portfolio includes:
- Australian Federal Police
- Australian Border force
- Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission
- The Australian Transaction Reports and Analysis Centre
With more departments to join in near future.
Basically, with this establishment, the government has brought all portfolio's under one roof to provide more security, transparency and better functionality.

Update: Victoria has temporarily closed skilled applications for Engineering and Building occupations. Also, the work experience required for these streams have been increased from 2 to 5 years now. Immigration wont be accepting applications in these two streams from 16 Oct 2017 until 12 Jan 2018.
