One important lesson we all have learned from this pandemic is that recovery plans should be the second most important document in a company. The top would always be an employee handbook (which we can discuss more in a separate post).

We've all realized that a business without a recovery plan is like a house of cards - it can collapse anytime.

Fortunately for us, we were able to write down Tbelle's own continuity and recovery plan. We tried to cover floods, earthquakes, fire, typhoons, etc. Funny thing is, we thought it was so detailed only to realize it did not actually include a plan for a pandemic! Who would've thought about a pandemic happening soon anyway?

March of this year, when cases of COVID19 in the Philippines started to increase when our Core Team had to focus all their energy towards coming up with a recovery plan specifically for a pandemic. It was everyone's main priority to ensure a smooth transition to a work-from-home setup.

The drafting of a recovery plan for other unexpected events helped the team have a good understanding of what's needed. So even if we were still drafting a recovery plan for a pandemic, the team's experience writing recovery plans for other unforeseeable events helped them understand the kinds of information needed.

And not only that but each client we have also has their own continuity plan specific to their account and the type of employee they have with us.

We always like to consider ourselves as our clients' partner, not vendor (which is a common term for service providers in the outsourcing industry). And the reason for that is this, we don't just help our clients find the right person, onboard the employee and gather the team's performance but we also help them fulfill the needs of their offshore team as an employee.

The fast development of our technology and the very interesting time we're in today, would've pushed some of us to innovate and change in regards to how we handle our businesses.

We have to be conscious on what's happening around us in order to proactively respond to the changes in our industry and in our market.

Take note, we've used the terms "proactive" and "respond".

The combination of both is important to make sure we are not simply reacting to the changes around us. Rather we are mindfully observing and responding.

It may take awhile to adjust and be comfortable with the changes (that's normal) but it doesn't mean it's not doable.

Remember those days when so many businesses fear to have their team work from home? Business owners fearing their employees would become unproductive and distracted.

Today, a company is lucky enough if they can continue to operate with their team working from home, thousands of other businesses out there cannot.

May this post remind us all to push our businesses to adapt.. just in time. A concept very popular with six sigma too!
