One of two new exhibitions at Magnet Galleries Melbourne. Pamela Thomas' exhibition 'Landprints' is her first solo exhibition showing the landscapes of Mainland Scotland, Isle of Skye and Tasmania and inner city Melbourne.
All their own unique vistas and impressions.

Printed by Photonet Fine Art Printing on a combination of Ilford Textured Cotton Rag and Sihl Satin Baryta Archival papers to really compliment the subjects.

A couple of works from the upcoming exhibition 'Tomorrow's Light' by Phil Watt. A full show of photography shot on film and printed by us to a wonderfully large size! We even got to print a couple on our new 60" printer!!

The show can be seen from Oct 2 - Nov 6 at the International Photography Gallery in Malvern East, Melbourne, Australia.

All works printed on MOAB Entrada Rag Natural matt archival paper.

As things go more and more digital, it's always nice to work on something tangible like these photos from the early 1900s. Brought in by Jill, we scanned and printed copies of a number of photos from her family album to help preserve them going forward.

We printed onto Ilford Galerie Gold Fibre Pearl Archival paper to somewhat match the sheen of the originals. Always fascinating to see such old works.

'Egret' by Pam Davison, a beautifully simple print for an exhibition she is part of later in the year.

Even on an image such as this a certain amount of work still needs to be done to get it just right as there is no room for error what so ever. We have been sitting with Pam and printing for her for years now and it's always great fun to see the next project she is working on.

Printed on Ilford Galerie Textured Cotton Rag archival paper. The paper was chosen specifically as a) it's a cooler tone paper lending strength to the starkness of the image and b) the extra 'tooth' (texture) this paper has lends the final print and almost scratched look which Pam was very pleased with.

Had a great time at the launch of 'The Green Bus' at Melbourne Town Hall gallery, a show featuring a selection of fantastic street photography by Andrew Chapman OAM. Highly recommend seeing this show that covers 55 years of photography!

Works not printed by us but Andrew is an old friend from way back and we love to support photography in all forms.

Hands by Kenny Tudhope. A touching image printed to a spectacular medium. Kenny specializes in wildlife photography but he can turn his hand to a great human photo.

Printed on Moab Paper Slickrock Metallic pearl archival paper which really draws out the colour and detail of such a fine detailed image.

Kenny is in the process of building himself an online store to sell his works, all printed by Photonet Fine Art Printing.

Upkeep of the equipment is critical. Especially for the very powerful but quite old Durst Sigma scanners we use that can handle everything from. 35mm all the way up to medium format. Wear and tear eventually affects things and replacement parts are needed. Which is quite tough for machines that have no support any more. Still we persevere and with the magic of 3D printing we could replace some worn out parts thanks to the help of Jacob, brother of Daniel our print manager! Here he is, elbow deep in the machine, getting it ready for more future scanning.

A print on handmade Nepalese paper called Lokta for art teacher Paul Gorman. Lokta is made from Laurel (bay leaf) and adds lovely texture to a monochrome image such as this.

More interesting and unusual work. Printing negatives onto film for Oscar (who is part of the Melbourne Camera Club) so he can do Salt Prints. The print on the left is off a digital photo and the one on the right is a film photograph. Salt printing is an old process developed by Henry Fox Talbot in the 1800s. A really fun way to create a photographic print, we printed these negatives so the paper can be exposed with the image as part of the process.
Even though we use the newest and best archival printing processes at Photonet it is always a joy to help facilitate and help keep alive these historic techniques.

Fantastic news! Photonet has a new printer!! An awesome ImagePROGRAF Pro-6600 60" wide Giclee printer from Canon . Not only does it do the same beautiful archival prints but also it can do them bigger! Provided by the wonderful people at Total Image Supplies who did a fantastic job installing and getting it up and running. We are super excited to make use of this beast and look forward to many years of printing your wonderful photography and art. We will have prices out shortly for the new sizes.
