This is one of the first handbags l painted with dots representing the story of when I secretly followed my Dad, Thomas Creed SNR, on a fishing trip. Years ago my parents would take us for fishing trips to Dayboro in Queensland. We are Freshwater people (Inland mob) on both Mum & Dads side. At that time our extended family, which could be up to 5 or more families would go for holidays to either Lake Kurwongbah or Dayboro, and spend most of our school holidays there living off the land. The men would hunt and fish and the women would look after the camp and the kids. Most of my artworks have this design. It represents a time I followed my Dad without his knowledge. He left his hunting dog Butch (blue heeler, he always had hunting dogs) behind. And I knew if I took Butch, he wouldn't growl at me when I finally let him know l was there. I knew I was safe with Burch because he wouldn't give me away. You see our hunting dogs were never allowed to bark. With Butch walking beside me, I followed Dad for 2hours, then came out of the bush with Butch. All he said was 'Where you come from, girl?' He always called me girl, he had 6 girls so l guess it was easier than going through each name before he got to mine. Anyway, I told him l'd followed from the beginning. I saw a look of pride on his face. I'll never forget that look😍😍😍. This design represents that story. The large dot in the middle is my Dad. The 2 smaller dots either side represents me and Butch following him. That last photo is a photo of my late Father. He's the inspiration behind this design and this is my tribute to him. 🖤💛❤
