Sounds incredible - time will tell if this is real and viable.

Canadian researchers have officially linked multiple cities through a quantum-entangled communication network — creating one of the world’s first large-scale quantum internet systems. Instead of relying on traditional encryption, this network uses entangled photons to distribute quantum keys. If anyone tries to intercept the signal, the quantum state collapses instantly, alerting both parties and rendering the stolen data useless. This gives the network a level of security that even supercomputers or future AI systems cannot break.

Telstra is launching satellite messaging, which allows a standard mobile phone to connect to the Telstra Network via the Starlink network. (Apparently it is in testing with other carrier networks.) Direct to Cell capability in the new gen satellite tech - anywhere in Australia you can see the sky you can send a message IF you have an upfront account service (not prepaid) i.e. premium service with Telstra AND you have a new enough mobile phone you have 100% coverage in Oz. It is NOT available with a prepaid account.

It allows you to message people you know, NOT 000. But - it's a start...HUGE for Australia!

Telstra is launching satellite messaging, which allows a standard mobile phone to connect to the Telstra network via the SpaceX Starling satellite network.

Perfect FIRE Storm - so much to consider about those fires in California. Converging conditions defeat all contingencies. They build houses in wood as this is safer in an earthquake, but houses fueled the fire. Winds equivalent to Category 3 spread it so fast and wide that no water supply could meet the need. Construction will need a rethink. Probably they won't be sharing their heavy aircraft with Australia in winter next year during our fire season.

Although Australia has a long bushfire history, the Greater Los Angeles fires present facility management with a major challenge.
