I feel truly blessed to call Australia my home for over 10 years now. ๐ต๐ญ๐๐ฆ๐บ
Filipino by birth, Australian by choice.
Did you know that Australia Day has been celebrated since 1788, marking the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove? It originally marked the beginning of British colonisation, but over the years, it has also become a day to celebrate the people, cultures, and achievements that make Australia what it is today.
Many communities use this day to reflect on the past, acknowledge the countryโs history, and celebrate the diversity that unites us. For me, itโs a reminder of the opportunities this country has given me and my family โ the chance to grow, thrive, and create a life full of choice and freedom.
Being an immigrant, I understand what it means to build a new home in a new country. Today, I celebrate not just a date, but the values of community, gratitude, and belonging. ๐
